Director of Operations

This position is a significant leadership position reporting directly to the Executive Director. The Director of Operations will be responsible for enhancing the internal organizational goals and infrastructure necessary for the growth and expansion of CSC. The candidate should possess the ability to think broadly and direct teams strategically while ensuring that details are aligned with the organizational goals. The Director of Operations must supervise the overall activities and operations of CSC in general to include workforce and development, He or she will also coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments, non-profit and for-profit organizations and Government agencies.

Essential Position Duties

  • Work closely with the Executive Director to align strategic goals to drive development and growth by analyzing priorities, partnerships and community initiatives within the organizational infrastructure.
  • Develop and grow infrastructure to support CSC’s work, including Finance, Human Resources, Administration and Technology/Communications. Participate in Organization-wide Strategic Planning and Leadership. Work with the Executive Director and senior leadership to sustain and grow programs and services and increase CSC’s mission impact and sustainability.
  • Serve as top-level strategic partner, mentor, and foundation builder for the organization as a whole.
  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
  • Joint responsibility for reporting and ensuring sound fiscal and risk management and contract and legal compliance, including insurance coverage.
  • Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for assigned programs; recommend and administer policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; recommend, within departmental policy, appropriate service and staffing levels.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate and review the work plan for staff; assign work activities, projects and programs; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
  • Oversee and participate in the development and administration of the Division’s annual budget; participate in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments.

Marketing

Business Development Specific Duties:

  • Meets regularly with marketing team and marketing subcommittee to define and execute roles for writing, editing and posting both web and newsletter materials.
  • Meets as needed with consultants, including photographers, videographers, web master/web liaisons, to complete assignments.
  • Primary role for drafting press releases and securing photographs associated with each event - receiving edits from other staff and finally sending to both general media and churches.
  • Primary role for drafting newsletters.
  • Primary role for chronicling daily Foundation life.
  • Responsible for keeping Media and Church rosters updated.

Community Awareness

  • Talks to the general public through television, radio and print medias.
  • Calls on donors regularly for updates, increased commitments, and opportunities to involve in new ways including visits to the Foundation.
  • Schedules regular presentations to service clubs, community groups and potential funding organizations– both off and on-site. Provides consistent messages to educate and recruit new support.

Development Committee

  • Primary staff for monthly development committee meetings
  • Prepares monthly development reports, and minutes
  • Works with members to fulfill specific committee assignments
  • Establish and grow the business side of the collaborative

Fundraising Events

  • Maintains events calendar.
  • Plans, schedules and executes individual events in conjunction with key volunteers and staff and community groups.
  • Screens requests from Business and Community groups requesting permission to do a Fund Raiser.
  • Solicits in-kind goods and services as needed.
  • Schedules and documents post event de-briefings.

EDUCATION

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, recreation, business administration, or a related field.
