  • The salary range for this role is USD $50k-75k annually, based on experience and geography

The Content Marketer Role at Chameleon

This role is exciting because it will let you touch many different areas of marketing, learn how to use the best tools, and find your “thing” as you progress.

We're looking for someone with a go-getter attitude—someone ready to roll up their sleeves and dive right in. If you're the type who's always eager to reach out, chase down new opportunities, hop on a call to make a connection, or try out fresh ideas, then you might be the person we're looking for 👏

Here’s how we estimate you spending your time:

Content Creation (~50%)

It’s not 2014—in 2024, content is much more than a blog. So we see your content creation work as being a mix of:

  • Webinar repurposing: Could it be a short series of video snippets for social media, a Q&A article, or packaged with other resources?
  • Pillar content “chopping”: We try to produce one big piece of content monthly (an example is here). You’ll help amplify this piece with other relevant blogs, videos, and assets.
  • Content writing: This position offers many opportunities to write. While it won’t all be about blogs, the ideal candidate will enjoy creating well-researched long-form blogs.
  • Video creation: You’re comfortable on camera and can create videos from existing content (e.g., articles summarized in 30 seconds).
  • Interview write-ups/snippets: We have fantastic customers and SaaS friends with unique POVs on Product. You’ll create content from interviews with them that help other operators improve their work.

Content distribution (~30%)

Was it even created if you create content but don’t distribute it correctly? Great content marketers know the importance of sharing their work through many channels for maximum engagement. Here are some ways you’ll do this:

  • LinkedIn distro: We’re doing well on LinkedIn, but we could do better with someone regularly posting and getting creative with how we share our content
  • Community distro: Reddit, Slack groups, online communities—you name it. You’ll find the best places to share our fantastic content.
  • Event promotion: Craft promotional content that attracts and excites potential attendees. We want to do more of this kind of thing!
  • Relationship building: get to know newsletter curators, micro-influencers, and others within our target community to make it easier for us to build distribution relationships and collaborate to increase our reach

Content enhancements (~10%)

Having someone to pave the way between articles will help improve conversion and the general UX of our blog. This could be done by doing the following:

  • Suggest internal links and CTAs: highlight where’s an excellent next step from a fresh read
  • Add great resources: find quotes, images, graphs, studies, etc. that strengthen our POV

General marketing (~10%)

We’re a lean, agile marketing team; we all roll up our sleeves and get stuck in wherever work needs to be done. You'll have lots of opportunities to learn new skills and tooling—here are a few ways we see this happening:

  • Setting up webinars on Livestorm
  • Reporting (socials/blogs) on Mixpanel and Dreamdata (attribution tool)
  • Website experimentation with Mutiny
  • SEO quick wins with SurferSEO and Ahrefs
  • Publishing blogs on Statamic (CMS)
  • Writing and sending emails through customer.io
  • Reviewing pipeline in HubSpot

Skills and experience that will aid success in this role

  • Generalist mentality – you enjoy wearing many different hats and collaborating with various departments
  • You’re a strong communicator who can translate complex ideas into compelling stories
  • You’re on top of the tools and trends for creating fantastic content; you enjoy keeping an eye on what’s new in your field
  • Knowledge of a range of content marketing approaches, such as SEO, long-form blogging, content repurposing, interviews, and webinars
  • Video editing skills: we’re not looking for a videographer, but bonus points if you know your way around Veed and CapCut or are excited to learn these!
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment; you’re a self-starter, and we’ll encourage you to have flexibility in your day-to-day work to try new things

Other requirements

  • You have a fully functioning workstation and a quiet place to work (and take calls) with a high-speed internet connection
  • You are located in the Americas or EuropeDespite your willingness to work these hours if you are located in a different timezone, we cannot consider you at this time
  • Fluency (written and verbal) in English

🌈 Chameleons are all different and uniquely beautiful. They change and aren't required to associate or identify with any specific labels. We welcome the chance to get to know you and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that consists of a variety of backgrounds, cultures, languages, abilities, experiences, preferences, and characteristics. That's what helps us all grow and evolve.
