Position Profile

This position is responsible for the architectural drafting needs for divisional sales office projects within the Interior Design Department of Ashton Woods Corporate office named Centro Stile. The position will work with AutoCAD system, creating, modifying, and maintaining residential construction documents. This position will also assist the designers with model home installation and preparation for model home installations.

Duties and Responsibilities: (Included but not limited to)

  • Responsible for the production workflow of multiple drawings and projects at the same time from various Divisions.
  • Responsible for drawing and reviewing projects, creating dwf and pdfs of AutoCAD drawings, and completing redlines for various projects.
  • Responsible for creating AutoCAD drawing templates, plan revisions, creating new products (DD/CDs), maintaining construction documents.
  • Review and correct plans as required by Divisions and Coordinator.
  • Self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, and meeting company standards.
  • Work with conceptual sketches and scanned images from design team.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to manage workflow for the week by oneself.
  • Understands basic design/architectural concepts and can apply how a space will function. Can visualize between 2D and 3D. Has knowledge of mirroring plans, elevations, and sections.
  • Other CAD projects as assigned.
  • Packing and preparing for upcoming projects.
  • Installing model homes in multiple markets.

Desired Candidate Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (4yrs)
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD with general knowledge of residential construction.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, timely completion of projects, makes time for unplanned assignments, adapts to changing priorities.
  • Respects all members; solicits other’s opinions; supports and complies with team decisions; share useful information.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing workplace and work with limited supervision.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 2-4 years of experience in residential architectural production/design drafting required.

Skills And Knowledge

  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD with knowledge of residential construction.
  • Ability to read blueprints, construction drawings and addendums as required.
  • Must be able to use word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, database and newsletter (Adobe) software for advanced internal and external communications.
  • Computer literacy, proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Word, presentation (PowerPoint), and ability to learn new programs as needed.
  • Ability to review, analyze and interpret information as well as trouble-shoot to solve problems.
  • Knowledge of business English and ability to communicate patiently and professionally with both internal and external customers both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize several tasks without compromising quality of work or mission deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing workplace.
  • Proven organizational skills in a high paced work environment.

Typical Physical And Mental Demands

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English.
  • Must be able to perform advanced math calculations.
  • Employees in this position are required to be able to hear and have vision sufficient to utilize all office equipment.
  • Use of hands and fingers is required to utilize standard office equipment.
  • This job requires some travel and overnight stays. Travel is mostly Tuesday – Thursday, but it can vary. Travel could be consecutive weeks at a time depending on the needs of the divisions. Model travel can be postposed last minute depending on construction delays. Flexible with travel schedule and ability to travel frequently, if needed.
  • This job requires physical work; applicant must be able to lift 20 lbs.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a typical office environment using standard office equipment. Work is typically sedentary in nature, but some walking and standing may be required. Fast paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority change and short notice activity. Additionally, when assisting on model home installs it requires air travel and overnight stays. This portion of the job is physical, typically 10,000 – 15,000 steps in a day, and involves long days.
