About The Role:

The OluKai brand is based on storytelling. And as a brand inspired by Hawaiʻi much of that story comes from the Islands. Celebrating, honoring the culture, the beauty and the people of the islands has given our brand a sense of purpose and meaning beyond just making great footwear for us and our loyalists.


This role serves a two-fold responsibility of maintaining and building relationships with and working with our ʻOhana in Hawaii and others to build unique and relevant content for the brand that helps us expand our communities and reach. This person becomes a representative of the brand, connecting the team to people, places, stories that are relevant with the ability to activate those storytellers directly.


We are looking for a qualified Senior Content Manager to join our team to help us forge our way into a video first world. You will be responsible for creating, improving, and maintaining content to achieve our business goals. Your duties will also include concepting, creating, and sharing content to raise brand awareness and monitoring web traffic and metrics to identify best practices.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced professional with demonstrable creative vision and a video first appetite. As a Senior Content Manager, you should perform well under deadlines and be detail oriented.


If you are also an expert in content optimization and brand consistency, we would like to meet you. Ultimately, you should be able to oversee all marketing content initiatives to ensure customer engagement, brand consistency, and a positive customer experience.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Bring innovation to the brand in the form of video content that allows us to stand out from a sea of sameness.
  • Develop content strategy aligned with short-term and long-term marketing strategies and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with marketing and design teams to plan and develop site content, style, and layout.
  • Create and publish engaging content.
  • Edit, proofread, and improve writers’ posts.
  • Liaise with content creators to ensure brand consistency – working with existing creators and introducing the brand to new, fresh faces.
  • Use content management systems to analyze website traffic and users’ engagement metrics.
  • Manage content distribution to online channels and social media platforms to increase web traffic.
  • Develop an editorial calendar and work closely with creative partners to ensure an on-time and on brand execution.
  • Stay up to date with developments and generate new ideas to draw audience’s attention.

Content Ideation:

  • Accountable for authentic content marketing initiatives to drive traffic, engagement, leads, that deliver sales and customer retention.
  • Brainstorming Hawaiʻi and non-Hawaiʻi specific content.
  • Collaborates across functions to deliver an effective content marketing strategy and editorial plan to meet the business objectives at the lowest possible cost.
  • This role requires a brand publisher mindset: create the content our audience is looking for and then to optimize the path to conversion
  • Development of editorial governance so content is consistent with our brand voice, style, and tone.
  • Channel management of digital content hubs and all supporting social channels including email / newsletter distribution. This person must understand the best practices of the main social media channels, which content and approaches work on each and why.
  • Integration of content programs with brand campaigns to drive brand to demand.
  • Writing of creative briefs and content outlines to manage the creative process both internally and with creators/ambassadors.

Content Creation:

  • Management of creative resources including photographers/ videographers and other 3rd party personnel hired to help create content.
  • Concepting and producing video and stills on a regular basis for content for social, web and other channels.
  • Work with manager to develop new storylines for marketing endeavors, product launches, and other content that feeds the consumer journey.
  • Be reactive to offer ideas on opportunistic posts/stories to capitalize on momentum.
  • Develop a close working relationship with creative team to get insight into creative strategy, execution, and available assets.
  • Manage and expand upon OluKai’s (v)blog, including writing of new content as needed.
  • Manage to a pre-provided content budget that includes a set number of deliverables for the budget.
  • Collaborate with manager, email, website teams and social specialist to promote viewership of content to ensure we reach KPIs established.
  • Collaborate with Go to Market to elevate and produce performance marketing content that enables video lead marketing across multiple channels.

Social Channel Oversight & Strategy:

  • Management of the Social Media Specialist and the social channels.
  • Lead social strategy for channels.
  • Oversee Social Media Specialist on calendar and execution for social channels within the Sprout platform.
  • Set the course for what Social Media means at OluKai by establishing a strategic vision for all social channels and KPIs to measure success.
  • Continue to build the channels – acquiring new consumers and building engagement.
  • Strategize on ways to use content to build traffic.

Ambassador and Creator Lab Management:

  • Building new ambassador relationships by recommendations/ introductions across relevant community groups.
  • Creating a consistent conversation with the ambassador team to ensure that needs are being met on both sides of the relationship.
  • Working with ambassadors to develop on-brand content strategies and deliverables.
  • Ideation and execution of surprise & delight initiatives that OluKai can use to engage with all ambassadors/ creators and keep them feeling positive about the OluKai brand.
  • Grow our OluKai communities with specific and meaningful relationships, activations that make us the “it” brand that aloha ambassadors want to work with.

Analytics and Reporting:

  • Improve on our current social media reporting to ensure it is relevant and actionable.
  • Work to derive insights that make us stronger/ better/ nimbler in the social space.
  • Monthly competitive trend analysis to show how we’re tracking against brand metrics outlined at beginning of the year.
  • Analyze performance of content across multiple channels and KPIʻs to ensure performance and optimization.
  • Utilization of UTM tags to track sales.


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, or relevant field
  • Proven work experience as a Content Manager
  • 7+ years experience
  • Hands on experience with MS Office and WordPress
  • Experience creating content for the web and growing a social audience
  • Editorial mindset that seeks to understand what audiences consume and how to create it
  • Ability to analyze and present content and social performance
  • Excellent writing skills in English
  • Attention to detail
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills


Compensation: The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000 plus opportunity for annual bonus; salary is based on the experience that you bring to the position.


Location: This is hybrid position, minimum of 3 days per week in office, in Irvine, CA. This hybrid work schedule is subject to change without notice as per company guidelines.
