SUMMARY OF POSITION


The Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education is a member-based, professional community of individuals and organizations with diverse backgrounds that promotes responsible environmental action, elevates voices for environmental justice, and celebrates excellence in environmental education. The WAEE Membership and Administrative Coordinator supports the overall operations of the organization in partnership with the Executive Director, an all-volunteer Board of Directors, and a range of active committees. They provide effective communications, support logistics and administration of organizational activities such as an annual conference and professional development opportunities in environmental education, and they support, sustain, and grow membership through planning and outreach. Outside of WAEE in-person events, this is a work-from-home position. Applicants must reside in Wisconsin to ensure attendance at in-person events. (Check yes on the qualifying questions if you agree to attend occasional in-person events that happen throughout Wisconsin. Milage is reimbursed, average of 3 events per year)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. WAEE Membership Support
  2. WAEE Board of Directors Support
  3. Support for WAEE’s Volunteer Committees, including Events and Workshops
  4. WAEE Marketing and Communications
  5. Office Management
  6. State and University Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) Support

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work independently in a remote work environment.
  • Personal commitment to supporting members and committed volunteers in a small environmental non-profit. 
  • Strong commitment to equity, access, and inclusion in this diverse outdoor-oriented community.
  • Experience in community engagement, membership management, nonprofit communications, or a related field. 
  • Experience managing both small- and large-scale events (up to 600+ attendees; multiple days). 


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in administrative support roles that include positive and skilled communication, and a detail-oriented ability to proactively identify issues, action steps, and appropriate decision-making authority in daily operations. 
  • Experience with member database management, membership recruitment, and/or membership communications.
  • Experience with administrative support programs, such as Google Drive and Workspace, and basic website and newsletter proficiency (or a willingness and ability to learn). 
  • Graphic design skills.


POSITION LOGISTICS

Time Frame for Employment: The Membership and Administrative Coordinator position is a part-time position consisting of 20 hours per week on average. The Membership and Administrative Coordinator has autonomy and flexibility in completing their weekly hours, outside of monthly evening WAEE Board Meetings, monthly evening WAEE Executive Committee Meetings, and WAEE in-person events.


Compensation and Benefits: $20/hour.


Materials provided by WAEE: One laptop, two computer monitors, a $20 internet stipend to be added to each paycheck, reimbursement of home office supplies as needed (as approved by the Executive Director), and mileage for in-person events. WAEE’s phone number is connected to its Zoom account for portability. The Membership and Administrative Coordinator’s costs for attending conferences and relevant training are covered by WAEE.


Supervision: The Executive Director will supervise the Administrative Assistant. This position will be reviewed at 6 months, 1 year, and annually thereafter.
