After becoming an independent nonprofit in 2023, the Chronicle is innovating and expanding as it shines a spotlight on one of the most under-covered but crucial areas of American life.

We are committed to influencing how individuals get engaged in the nonprofit sector and how nonprofits and foundations can do more to advance meaningful change. We also offer a robust set of services that enable professionals to advance their skills and careers.

Job Summary:

As Senior Editor on the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s Nonprofit Intelligence team, you will create service journalism that informs and empowers nonprofit professionals to help them work smarter. This coverage includes producing live online forums and other professional development sessions; writing, editing, and proofreading digital reports for nonprofit professionals; and helping to write Nonprofit Adviser, a weekly newsletter highlighting the Chronicle’s how-to content.

The senior editor also works closely with the editorial events manager to ensure logistics and operations are smooth and provides behind-the-scenes event support when needed. Through interviews with prospective speakers and interactions with audience members during live event question-and-answer sessions, the senior editor will have the opportunity to identify common challenges or solutions and help shape future content.

The senior editor also writes and oversees the production of digital reports, on topics as varied as fundraising strategy, trends in the nonprofit sector, emerging technology, and nonprofit management and leadership.

The senior editor also writes and edits the Nonprofit Adviser newsletter on a rotating basis, and creates other content as assigned.
