Overview:

The FOS Summer Internship Program is designed to provide undergraduate students in their final year of coursework with a comprehensive learning experience in the fast-paced world of sports media. Interns will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, receive mentorship from industry professionals, and gain valuable insights into various aspects of our organization.

As a Floating Editorial Intern, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of sports journalism, working closely with seasoned editors, writers, and content creators. You'll play a pivotal role in assisting the growth of our narrative as the leading Business of Sports digital media company. Your focus: contributing to a wide range of editorial projects spanning news coverage, feature articles, opinion pieces, and multimedia content. From conducting in-depth research to polishing final drafts, you'll hone your writing and editing skills while supporting our dynamic team in delivering top-notch sports content to our audience. This hands-on experience will deepen your understanding of the editorial process and provide invaluable insights into the ever-evolving landscape of sports media.

Key Responsibilities

• Craft engaging and informative sports-related content, including articles, features, interviews, and analysis pieces. Content may cover a wide range of sports business topics across our industry.
• Assist in editing and proofreading articles for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and style. Ensure adherence to company editorial guidelines and standards.
• Conduct research on trending sports business topics, teams, and events to support content creation and editorial decision-making.
• Collaborate with editors and writers to brainstorm ideas, develop content plans, and contribute to editorial meetings. Provide general support to the editorial team as needed.
• Be prepared to assist various editorial teams and departments, including but not limited to news, features, and our newsletters.
  
  

Ideal Skills And Qualifications

• Passion for sports—and the business side of sports—with a strong understanding of various sports news.
• Currently a rising Senior pursuing a degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Journalism, Media Studies)
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong research skills and the ability to gather information from various sources.
• Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) is preferred.
• Currently a rising senior pursuing or having recently completed a degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field.
• Previous writing/editing experience for a publication, blog, or website is a plus.
• Experience in social video creation or social media management/curation is a plus.
