Summary: Primarily responsible for sales of memberships and event sponsorships. Leads the on-boarding of new members and increases the retention of existing members through management and implementation of the Chamber's retention and member education efforts. This requires a very proactive approach to customer service. In addition, the position is responsible for activities supporting services to the Chamber's membership and sponsors, including maintaining accurate/quality records in the customer relationship management (CRM) system, performing accounts receivable functions, and implementing membership outreach programs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

1.    Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of Chamber membership and sponsorship levels and benefits to convey advantages of membership and sponsorship, as well as address members’ and prospect members’ needs or requests.

 

2.    Manage all aspects of membership expansion and retention, including potential member research, member pitches, and member retention contacts and outreach. Track use of member benefits.

 

3.    Plan/coordinate new member on-boarding process, including communications and Member Orientation meetings.

 

4.    Pitch event sponsorships to members by communicating the benefits of the sponsorship levels.

 

5.    Assist in the preparation of the annual Sponsorship Package and keep detailed records of sponsorship commitments throughout the year.

 

6.    Manage the volunteer Ambassador Committee; prepares contact list/information, meeting notices, development of agendas, recording of minutes, and other relevant logistics in the conduct of the meeting.

 

7.    Assist in coordinating and managing Chamber events.

 

8.    Prepare new member, prospective member, and retention reports.

 

9.    Represent Chamber at events, as assigned.

 

10. Report regularly and work directly with the President on all activities relating to the roles.

 

11. Attend Chamber networking meetings, committee meetings, and others as assigned.

 

12. Assist with resolution of member concerns and service issues through coordination with the President.

 

13. Manage all membership information in the Chamber CRM database for quality control and accuracy and coordinate the updating of said information as needed.

 

14. Work closely with Chamber President to achieve overall Chamber goals and objectives within timeframes specified.

 

15. Performs all other duties as may be assigned by the President.

 

Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to present and/or speak effectively and persuasively with prospects, members, and employees of organization.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Experience managing accounts receivable process and/or accounts payables.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:

Knowledge of Word processing software, spreadsheet software, digital marketing platform like Constant Contact, basic design applications like Canva, social media outlets

 

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum: Associate degree (A. A. / A. S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; one to two years related experience (i.e., sales, membership/business management, newsletter development, event planning, accounting, etc.) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is infrequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. On client visits, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.

Hours Per Week: 30-35 hours (will consider PT at 20-25 hours for ideal qualified candidate)
