Tripepi Smith is a California-based marketing, technology and public affairs firm seeking to revolutionize communication and marketing in the local government world. We hire thoughtful people with diverse skills who can strategize and deliver on the communication needs of our clients.


This position is to work in a communications role with one of our city clients. This role includes knowledge of public agencies and local government policy in order to communicate for our client in a meaningful way. Services will include: social media content development and management, strategic communication planning, basic graphic design, ghost writing, photo and video content production using an iPhone, event support, digital advertising, and press releases.. The ideal candidate will be able to learn new technologies, skill sets and processes quickly while meeting deadlines with minimal daily supervision.


Core Job Functions

  • Social Media Management (Client Work) - One of your primary roles will be to oversee our social media. You will help develop and manage the social media calendar, brainstorm content ideas, create, review & approve content, and advise on responding to messages & comments. Content creation may include some light graphic design through tools such as Canva.
  • Task Management and Oversight - You will execute on tasks assigned to you by Tripepi Smith. You will leverage Asana software to respond to task requests from the city. You will coordinate resources on the TS team to ensure timeliness of deliverables.
  • Team Leadership (Internal) - You will lead team calls on occasion.
  • Account Management (Client Work) - With the support of senior management, you may interface directly with the client to ensure strong relationships and assess their feedback on our work.
  • Quality Assurance - You will review draft deliverables and ensure the quality of materials being delivered to clients.
  • Event Attendance - You may represent Tripepi Smith such as local non-profit community events, local government association meetings, industry conferences, etc. These meetings often take place in the evening and on weekends.
  • Content Production - You will have ample opportunities to show off your writing skills by producing a range of written content. Content may include, but is not limited to: email memos, press releases, Communication Assessment reports, newsletter articles and website content.
  • Metrics Reporting - You will provide quality assurance of reports for high-level stakeholders.
  • Client Availability - You may, within reason, be available to respond in times of crisis or need, outside of normal working days and hours. Such events are typically infrequent. Weekend events will occasionally require you to be present for photos, videos and social media posting.
  • Other duties as assigned by your Project Managers, Account Managers and Principals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. A degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism, Government, Politics/Philosophy/Economics, or English/Literature is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of prior professional experience in marketing and communication functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to create short format photo and video content using an iPhone
  • Proficiency in writing, grammar and proofreading.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines.
  • Access to reliable transportation and a valid Driver's License.


Extra Consideration For

  • Knowledge of local government
  • Certifications in social media from Meta, Twitter, Nextdoor, Hootsuite and Google.
  • Experience creating and/or managing digital advertising campaigns.
  • Training and experience with the Civic Plus website content management system.
  • Graphic design experience using tools such as the Adobe Suite, Canva, etc.
  • Experience working with the Asana platform
  • Fluency in a second language (especially Spanish) beyond just a conversational level: writing, reading, listening and speaking.
