Building on the principles of bipartisanship and trustworthiness that Jim Ervin laid out when he founded the firm in 1987, former Congressman Tom Graves joined forces with Jim in 2020 to launch Ervin Graves Strategy Group. After nearly 20 years in the Georgia legislature and U.S. House, Tom has a reputation for relationship building and forging creative solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing the nation. 

 

Ervin Graves seeks highly motivated candidates for part-time and full-time, paid short-term positions to join our dynamic and fast-paced team beginning in Mid-May through Mid-August 2024. Research Associates will serve as an integral part of the team, helping to strengthen relationships with Ervin Graves clients through policy research, administrative organization, and outreach to government officials and their staff. Candidates should be skilled communicators, strong writers, and analytical thinkers. 

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 

  • Draft memos on policy, legislation, hearings, and other topics relevant to client needs 
  • Take notes and attend meetings with clients, government officials and their staff 
  • Arrange and configure virtual meetings 
  • Proactively monitor the congressional committee meeting schedule and relevant legislation 
  • Contribute to external facing materials ranging from press releases to the firm’s weekly newsletter and social media content 
  • Participate in Ervin Graves office events, including assisting with event set up and welcoming invited guests 
  • Accompany consultants to offsite events, fundraisers, and meetings 
  • Carry out other administrative duties as needed such as sorting mail and ensuring office pantry is stocked and orderly 

 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Open to recent graduates and graduate students 
  • Prior political or government experience a plus 
  • Committed to bipartisanship 
  • Able to adapt to changes in the work environment on a day-to-day basis 
  • Excellent research skills and strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Detail oriented, well organized and ability to manage multiple tasks 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively 
  • Familiarity with HubSpot or other CRM platforms is a plus
