Job Overview

Provides development support and assistance to the Foundation Office. Serves as a liaison between both the Lincoln and Omaha Campus offices by providing support and back-up to the gift officers and Operations Manager in donor relations, research and correspondence. Provides support for programs and development initiatives of the Foundation. This position assists with development effectiveness and maximizes efficiency throughout the fundraising process for administrative and operational activities. Responsible for assisting the Madonna Foundation in the functions related to ongoing development and fundraising including, but not limited to, integrating Raiserâ??s Edge components into the Foundation processes including thank youâ??s, scheduling of appointments, correspondence with board members, prospective and current donors, campaign leadership and volunteers, as well as coordination of the development of marketing materials and recognition of donor activities, as well as assisting in planning for donor events. Must be highly proficient in the use of computer software including Microsoft Office programs. Must become proficient in the use of Raiserâ??s Edge fundraising software, utilizing applications to provide information, action planning, reporting and record keeping functions. Must be highly organized and able to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet schedule deadlines. Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Must work well independently and within a team. Responsible for maintaining quality relationships through communications with prospective and current donors, patients, board members, volunteers and staff as assigned. Provides backup support and office coverage as needed.

Essential Functions

(INFORMATION)

  • Excels as development professional and establishing relationships with donors and emerging professionals to advance Madonnaâ??s mission and vision.
  • Assists with tracking, coordinating and implementing communications with all board members, prospective and current donors, campaign leadership and volunteers using Raiserâ??s Edge software.
  • Provides Raisers Edge input, reports, lists for prospecting or mailings, donor information, action tracks and other activity planning and support needs as required by the Operationâ??s Manager, Vice President of Development, Associate Vice President of Development or the Director of Major Gifts.
  • Prepares and generates Gift Acknowledgment/Gift Receipting letters with accuracy, in a timely manner, according to procedures in place.
  • Prepares reports, memos, correspondence and projects as assigned, maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Assists with implementation of the Foundation Programs for employees and patients.
  • Assists with creating and implementing marketing strategies and vehicles developed by the Foundation leadership and staff including but not limited to monthly email newsletter distribution, monthly anniversary/birthday recognition, and honor/memorial/tribute donation reporting.
  • Handles planning details related to individual and group cultivation and solicitation events including preparation of proposals and packets of support materials as assigned.
  • Maintains the Operations Calendar with input from the Operations Manager, as well as staff activities and key dates and makes sure that these calendar dates are cross-referenced on individual staff Outlook calendars.
  • Schedules meetings for the Foundation, fundraising campaigns, appeals, events and planning as assigned and makes all arrangements to include reservations, meal planning and contacting participants.
  • Prepares notices, agendas and support materials, including meeting minutes, for distribution for all meetings and other fundraising and Foundation meetings as assigned.
  • Assists in supervising volunteers with support services or fundraising activities as required.
  • Assists with updates for donor recognition categories and activities, i.e. donor walls, plaques, etc., and assists with other donor recognition activities as assigned.
  • Engages in professional development activities for the betterment of the Foundation operation.
  • Assists with other duties, projects or programs as needed. (PEOPLE)
  • Greets and receives prospective and current donors, patients, board members, employees, family members and friends who arrive for scheduled appointments and/or unexpected visits, treating all guests with courtesy and respect. Informs appropriate staff of guest's arrival and proceeds to make them welcome and comfortable.
  • Performs telephone answering, screening and handling incoming calls in a friendly and professional manner and directs calls to appropriate staff/department. Makes internal and external calls as necessary.
  • Interacts, communicates and builds relationships with prospective and current donors, patients, board members, staff and the general public in an up-beat, respectful, confidential and compassionate manner.
  • Assists with implementation of the Foundations Programs, such as St. Benedict's, First Hope, Angel Wings, Christmas Club or more as determined by supervisor for employees and patients.
  • Assists Case Management, Nursing Supervision, and other internal employees with St. Benedictâ??s Applications or First Hope Applications, and coordinates payment for approved requests.
  • Assists with planning, coordinating and evaluating the successful employee giving clubs within the hospital.
  • Assists with planning, coordinating and evaluating the successful memorial giving program and follows up with the families to ensure their final wishes are met.
  • Assists with planning, coordinating and evaluating the successful growth of the grateful patient program including working with staff to ensure timely delivery of grateful patient mail solicitations and coordination of the award presentations.
  • Assists with coordinating and presenting New Employee Orientation.
  • Assists Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitalsâ?? marketing personnel and Foundation staff in the planning and implementation of donor recognition functions and other public relations activities.
  • Assists with developing, updating and implementing marketing vehicles and material including social media platforms, website and print material.
  • Takes instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the department and/or system.

Qualifications

High school equivalency and two years post high school education required. Bachelorâ??s Degree in communications, marketing, education, business, healthcare management or comparable area preferred. Excellent grammar and communication skills. Experience in project management including orientation, training, managing schedules and processing and producing reports and presentation materials required. Additional relevant work experience in fundraising or non-profit setting would be considered in lieu of formal post-high school education. Must be able to work in public contact with high-profile individuals and possess professional and social poise. Must perceive donor relations as a primary focus and continually strive to satisfy the needs of every internal and external donor and customer in all areas of the work experience. Valid Nebraska driverâ??s license and proof of good driving record required.
