Job Title: Director of Communications and Grants

Reports To: Executive Director

Job Purpose:

The Director of Communications and Grant Writing is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communication and marketing strategy for the HBCU Wrestling organization. This includes managing social media platforms, creating and distributing newsletters, and identifying and securing grants to support the organization's goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication and marketing strategy for HBCU Wrestling.
  • Manage and maintain HBCU Wrestling's social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and website to ensure consistent messaging and timely updates.
  • Develop and distribute a monthly newsletter to update stakeholders on the organization's progress, events, and accomplishments.
  • Identify potential grant opportunities, prepare grant applications, and secure funding to support HBCU Wrestling's goals and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and other staff members to identify funding needs and develop fundraising strategies to support the organization.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media outlets, sponsors, donors, and partners to promote HBCU Wrestling's mission and increase visibility.
  • Plan and coordinate events, including press conferences, fundraising events, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Create and manage a database of contacts and potential partners to support HBCU Wrestling's outreach efforts.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in communications and marketing to ensure that HBCU Wrestling remains at the forefront of the industry.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience in communications, marketing, and grant writing.
  • Experience in managing social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Proven track record of identifying and securing grant funding for nonprofit organizations.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to craft compelling stories and grant proposals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of the sports industry, particularly wrestling, is a plus.
