Memory Care Coordinator

Landings of Genesee Valley Senior Living and Memory Care Facility in Flint is looking for a Memory Care Coordinator.

The Memory Care Coordinator role is designed to oversee day to day activities in our memory care unit[s] for the community including ensuring that our specialized memory care program, Impressions, is running at expectations in these unit[s]. This does include training care staff on the program, supervision of care staff regarding Impressions programming, setting up activity kits for residents, and providing redirection techniques and resident focused intervention plans by leading by example, and walking care staff through these techniques.

Duties include

  • Assists the Program Director with planning, developing, and preparing a variety of exercise, social, recreational, and educational.
  • Assists with the production of the community monthly calendar newsletter for Memory Care.
  • Assists with orientation of new residents by providing information and guidance to new.
  • Establishes a warm and welcoming atmosphere for residents and staff.
  • Demonstrate independent judgment and discretion, problem-solving, and thinking outside the box.
  • Promotes teamwork and positive attitude among the staff.
  • Continually evaluates the quality and consistency of activities for residents and suggests adjustments, corrections, and changes as necessary.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle (required driver).
  • Responsible for tracking attendance and effectively carrying out disciplinary action where appropriate.
  • Communicate and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Supervise caregivers & med techs on the floor, create staff schedules and reschedules.
  • Cover shifts, provide care as needed, and ensure safe staffing at all time.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Two years’ college in a heath care field or an activities professional by a recognized accrediting.
  • Experience in a senior housing environment strongly.
  • Two years’ experience in recreation.
  • Strong computer skills and general healthcare.
  • Acceptable Driving Record.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with technology and maintain or assist in maintaining our specialty programming and life enrichment programs in Memory Care.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record that allows driver to be insured on the company insurance.


Physical/Sensory Requirements

The Memory Care Coordinator is a highly active position, with the person leading physical activities for the residents. The position requires long stretches on one’s feet and long stretches requiring the person to drive the community van.
