The Digital Newsletter Editor will play a key role in composing, curating and delivering timely, engaging and insightful newsletters that resonate with our audience of farmers, agricultural professionals, and individuals interested in rural life. Digital Newsletter Editor Essential Job Functions (Full Description)

Digital Newsletter Creation and Management:

  • Plan and execute curated, industry-specific newsletters that speak to the interests and needs of the farming and rural life community.
  • Manage a deadline-driven schedule involving multiple newsletters and their respective schedules.

Digital Content Composition And Curation

  • Compile relevant and timely stories from Lancasterfarming.com and around the web, addressing a wide range of topics within the farming sector.
  • Compose letters, listicles and introductions to give industry-specific newsletters a personal touch.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, contributors, and the editorial team to ensure accuracy and depth in newsletter content.
  • Work closely with circulation, advertising and other teams to design, launch and maintain subscription-based digital newsletters.
  • Stay informed about breaking news and the latest developments, trends, and issues within the farming industry to provide relevant and timely content.

Editing, Proofreading And Quality Assurance

  • Ensure the highest editorial standards by meticulously editing and proofreading newsletters for clarity, coherence and grammatical accuracy.
  • Uphold the newspaper's editorial voice and style guidelines in all newsletter communications.
  • Test links, preview sends and conduct quality checks to ensure newsletters are audience-ready.

Digital Audience Engagement

  • Foster strong connections with the readership by encouraging feedback, comments and contributions.
  • Monitor and analyze engagement metrics to refine content strategies and enhance the overall impact of e-newsletters.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in editorial roles, with a focus on digital e-newsletter creation, preferably within the farming or agricultural industry.
  • Knowledge of farming practices, industry trends and issues affecting the agricultural community.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate complex topics in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Strong editing and proofreading abilities, ensuring the highest quality of content for newsletters.
  • Proficiency with digital tools and platforms for e-newsletter creation, distribution, and engagement. Experience with Constant Contact is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability to evolving industry landscapes and a proactive approach to staying informed about relevant topics.
