HLUS is seeking the support of a freelance copywriter to support internal communications content on the clients intranet, in newsletters, and when appropriate, social media or other repurposing (e.g. video). This position will be part-time and project based, averaging around 8-12 hours per Month. Requirements:
Candidate must have experience and deep competency in corporate journalism with an ability to create human-centric narratives around assigned topics
Experience with interviewing story subjects and SMEs, identifying key content for writing
Knowledge of all conventions of AP style and rigid adherence to AP guidelines
Candidate must be deadline-driven with strict attention and adherence paid to publication timelines.
Fast learner with the ability to quickly grasp the needs of diverse businesses and create compelling content that simplifies sometimes complex topics for a non-technical audience
Creative thinker, comfortable with making suggestions for improvement/modification of story angles
Experience with DE & I content a plus
Experience with IT content (tech process explainers, info security, etc.) a plus
Ability to distill content into compelling headlines and short blurb “teasers” for newsletter promotion
Ability to adapt content to a social media (external) audience where appropriate
Ability to adapt content to video scripts and storyboards where appropriate
