Marketing Assistant
Part-time position (20 hours a week ) Non-exempt employee
Reports to: Executive Director
Job Summary: Work directly with marketing agencies and partners to ensure accurate and timely implementation of all ticket sale campaigns, including season subscription, and single ticket sales. Coordinate the distribution of all materials used to support the PSO's marketing and public relations efforts. Ensure all the PSO’s communications are of brand standards, quality, consistency, and accuracy. Utilize all available vehicles for advertising and promoting programs and campaigns including print, television, radio, electronic media, social networking, speaking engagements, partnerships, and special promotions. A successful candidate will be an organized, detail-oriented individual with the ability to take direction and follow through on projects.
Job Duties: subject to revision and change, duties may include, but are not limited to:
Social Media
- Curate a strategic and consistent social media plan to ensure effective use and engagement on social media sites.
- Manage all social media accounts such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
Website Cultivation
- Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications, in cooperation with website developers, to cultivate the PSO’s website ensuring its effectiveness, ease of use, and highlights the PSO’s concert season/other events.
- Create content, maintain, and update the PSO website as directed.
- Maintain up-to-date photography and image files as a gallery on the PSO website.
Marketing & Graphic Design
- Assist with all graphic design, print, electronics, and collateral material, including concert program books.
- Assist with the research, writing, copy editing, and overseeing the printing of concert program books.
- Assist with designing pieces as needed for Development, other PSO departments, the Peoria Symphony Guild, and Peoria Symphony Foundation.
- Ensure accurate promotional exposure and acknowledgment promised to all sponsors and donors.
- Assist with selling print advertisements in concert program books and digital advertisements in e-newsletters.
Communications
- Create and curate monthly e-newsletter and pre-concert guide before each concert.
- Identify new and non-traditional ways to tell the PSO’s diverse stories and build brand awareness.
- Assist in the production of press releases and informational pieces regarding concerts and activities.
- Assist with writing TV/radio advertising copy.
- Assist with the curation of annual report.
Audience Development & Concert Sales
- Assist the Director of Marketing and Communications in achieving subscription and concert ticket sales revenue goals.
- Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications and Box Office to create season subscription renewal and acquisition campaigns, including design and production of materials. Monitor and report on the progress and results.
- Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to plan and implement single ticket sales strategies, including the design—and assist with implementing and placing advertising and special promotions.
- Assist with developing and implementing audience development initiatives and developing audience retention strategies.
- Work with the Data Specialist and/or PSO partners to initiate surveys, data collection vehicles, analysis, and interpretation of data.
- Work with the Data Specialist and/or PSO partners to harvest data and set strategies to optimize earned revenue.
- Assist with direct mail and email marketing including strategic use of the PSO’s patron database.
Other
- Provide support to the entire PSO organization when needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications.

Requirements
- High school degree required.
- 1+ years of marketing experience—non-profit or performing arts (desired but not required).
- Proficient in the use of traditional, digital, and social media.
- Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
- Graphic Design skills using Canva and/or the Adobe Creative Suite (desired but not required).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing for media.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment.
