J.P. Morgan’s Commercial & Investment Bank is seeking a talented, news-hungry writer to join its Internal Communications team to draft punchy news and features on everything from our latest multibillion dollar M&A deal or IPO to how technology is revolutionizing trading. Possibly a financial journalist looking for a new challenge, you’ll be writing for our global intranet and editing our weekly newsletter, which is distributed to more than 90,000 employees. You will also help to edit content submitted by internal partners across Marketing & Communications and help to devise new ways to keep our content looking and sounding fresh.
As a Communications Manager Vice President within the Commercial & Investment Bank you will help to communicate business plans and successes and lead employee engagement. You will be creative, deadline driven and detail oriented, have advanced storytelling skills, and be able to describe complex ideas in a clear and compelling way. You’ll collaborate effectively with senior executives and other teams across the Commercial & Investment Bank, including working with our design team on layouts and fresh ways to format our content.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage employee engagement by developing a steady flow of compelling stories and features that communicate the strategy, success and story of the CIB to employees; someone who can lend personality to our business stories
- Write and edit against tight deadlines
- Convey complex, technical information in a clear, compelling way
- Interview senior leaders across the Commercial & Investment Bank for quotes and background to develop deal stories and report on new products or technologies
- Maintain the editorial calendar and share with IC partners
- Collaborate with internal communications partners to develop story ideas and think creatively about new ways to present and format stories
- Proof stories before publication and have strong focus on detail
- Partner well across various teams including business stakeholders, Legal and Compliance, and other Communications partners
- Maintain an active interest in financial news, current affairs and how the world of investment banking affects employees and the everyday economy.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
- 7+ years of communications experience in a large, matrixed organization
- Superior writer with background in journalism and/or in a similar role in corporate communications
- Experience with news and feature writing, and writing for an internal audience
- Skilled interviewer able to get the right information and data quickly
- Well organized; comfort working under tight deadlines and on multiple high-priority pieces simultaneously
- Ability to work with designers on layouts
- Flawless accuracy in terms of grammar and information
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field
