GuidePost Strategies is a federal strategic consulting and government affairs firm which assists clients in comprehensive message positioning, legislative strategy, issue management, and advocacy.
This position will be an integral part of the team, leading the research team and operations.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily news and provide the internal team with relevant updates
- Track legislation and regulations at the federal level
- Assist with drafting research memos and policy communications to clients
- Research and author a morning newsletter (Tuesday-Friday), a Sunday evening newsletter, and as-it-happens news updates
- Conduct daily research as necessary
- Attend and report on hearings and briefings of interest to clients
- Manage interns and run the internship program
- Send all-client email blasts
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree required
- 2-4 years of Hill experience required (i.e. Legislative Assistant/Correspondent, Press Secretary/Communications Director, etc.)
- Policy or communications experience
Qualifications:
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- An interest in current events and policy issues
- Ability to work independently under strict deadlines and in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multitask
- Previous experience in a government affairs environment and knowledge of Congress/the legislative process is preferred
- Salary commensurate with experience
