About Our Organization: Punchbowl News is a news content company founded by Anna Palmer, Jake Sherman, John Bresnahan, and Rachel Schindler, focused on power, people, and politics in Washington. We are looking for a Digital Producer to join our growing team. Punchbowl News’ primary focus is breaking news about power, the nation’s political leadership and explaining to our audience of political junkies how Washington works. We produce (at least) three newsletters each day, a daily podcast, dozens of events, and more across our growing product suite. Punchbowl News’ theory is that power in Washington emanates from the Capitol – and that’s the center of our focus. Our audience includes members of Congress, high-ranking members of the Biden administration, lobbyists, top-level reporters, media executives, Wall Streeters, tech and Hollywood executives, and everyday political fans.

Job Summary:
This is a key position that includes helping us assemble, edit and produce the newsletter and accompanying articles every morning and assist in producing the midday newsletter. In addition, the job includes editing and publishing the daily podcast, The Daily Punch. The editorial web producer will also assist with our other products: special edition newsletters, marketing communications, videos, social media posts and live events.
The hours for this position are 4 a.m. – 12 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The best person for this job will have a deep interest in Congress; be highly-organized and have the ability to work under tight deadlines. This position offers opportunities for learning and growth within the editorial team.
Qualifications:
- Strong news judgment.
- Ability to write quickly and copy edit.
- Familiarity with AP Style and strong attention to detail is essential.
- Experience managing social media for a news organization.
- Experience or willingness to learn to how to edit audio for a podcast, preferably in Logic.
- Desire and ability to learn new technologies.
Work Experience:
- Two-plus years experience in a newsroom is preferred but not required.
- An understanding of and ability to navigate content management systems, particularly WordPress, is also a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
The starting salary for this role is in the range of $70,000- $90,000. Final compensation will be based on scope, work experience and relevant skills.
