Contractual preferred 40 hours weekly, for 46 weeks yearly, with a cash bonus at year end.

Qualifications desired:

A minimum of a B.A. in energy, environment, sociology or associated field, with related work experience in outreach, advocacy, and/or organizing. Experience outside of nonprofit work in sales, real estate, or banking also may be helpful

The Job Basics:

350 Deschutes seeks a person to start, develop, manage education and outreach for the organization’s clean energy programs. Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy is a program that has economic benefits for cities, counties, businesses and Building owners. It enables a building owner to pay for energy, water, and efficiency improvements with special financing that attaches to the building rather than the owner. CPACE has been approved by the Oregon legislature for use in Multnomah, Washington and Deschutes Counties. 350Deschutes wishes to approve this program in Jefferson County.
You will manage 8-10 months of planning meetings (primarily on ZOOM) with entities in Central Oregon, including government, individuals, and businesses. Part of this work will be the completion of a report.
Candidate will also do outreach for youth programs at selected high schools and colleges. This work includes referrals to teachers (via an already completed form) for classroom speakers. You will help build a list of businesses, and interested teachers has been started, but needs supplementation.
Fund development is expected to be at least 35% of the job. This will be a team effort with the executive director, researching, prioritizing and writing proposals and reports for funders.
Managing an intern or additional staff may be necessary for parts of this work.

The IDEAL CANDIDATE: We seek an individual who is team oriented, with an understanding and ability to work with a diverse population of people from all socioeconomic backgrounds. Ideally the individual will have at least basic knowledge of electric vehicles, EV charging, and clean energy, but this is not required. Ongoing education through webinars is to be expected.

Individual will possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to adapt these communications for diverse audiences. To work with executive director on grant proposal development
The individual has working knowledge of Excel, Word, as well as Newsletter and Social Media Platforms.
Experience with outreach and education and its applications in diverse communities is key to success. Guidance tools are available
Ability to work independently and remotely with minimal supervision, other than weekly team meetings.
Knowledge of Spanish is considered a plus.

The Job tasks:

Learn and maintain a thorough and updated understanding about 350 Deschutes current and proposed clean energy programs as well as possible future ideas from written materials and webinars.
To develop new materials for public outreach.
To identify speakers and sponsors for the annual Go Clean Energy Conference.
Recruit, manage and work with diverse volunteer committees to organize participation and develop strategies, along with a plan,
To have the aptitude and ability to work as an advocate with lawmakers, economic development managers, Energy Trust of Oregon, financial institutions, and city managers, as well as building owners to engage and develop their interest and support for the program. Outreach to business and government decisionmakers and encouraging them to endorse and support Clean Energy Programs in writing and advocacy is a part of the job
Work with Executive Director on planning and creating a work plan. Once weekly meetings are required.
To implement education for stakeholders and to survey their interest and manage their participation when needed for advocacy and engagement. This would include a variety of print, and or online and virtual offerings, as well as culturally appropriate materials developed for specific audiences. This will include presentations at the Go Clean Energy Conference and elsewhere.
To work with diverse communities to ensure that the program responds to the needs of low to moderate income individuals, as well as people of color. This is likely to involve work with HUD, and/or other government entities.
Participate with other team members in team activities and a yearly Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training.
Work with impacted communities, affordable housing developers, and hiring influences to identify potential advisors and contractors to facilitate deployment of Clean Energy new and retrofit projects.
