Milne Electric Inc., an established electrical contractor located in Monroe is searching for an experienced Payroll/HR Specialist. If you have a background in finance or payroll processing, we are interested in talking with you about a position in our company!

As the Payroll/HR Specialist, you will work to ensure that all employees get their paychecks delivered accurately and on time. Your knowledge and experience with payroll taxes and deductions are vital to success in this role. It is essential to have a solid understanding of employee attendance procedures and leave arrangements. You will make payroll adjustments, audits, voids, direct deposits, and termination checks. You will also prepare payroll reports that detail wages and labor costs to the company and file certified payroll reports with the state.

The Payroll/HR Specialist will work on site in the Monroe office. There may be an opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement once fully established in the role and demonstrated an ability to work independently.

Some of the Key Responsibilities of the Payroll/HR Specialist:

Process weekly payroll for all employees by using timesheets, leave requests, hourly wage rates and other possible adjustments.
Manage tax and withholding records and deductions for all federal, state, local or other corporate taxes that affect payroll amounts.
Set up each individual new hire with all the necessary forms, including direct deposit requests, wage verification, I-9 information, and W-4 reports.
Produce yearly employee withholding tax reports in a timely fashion to ensure all employees can prepare their taxes without delay.
Answer questions regarding paychecks, withholding tax issues or wage adjustments from employees and help troubleshoot possible issues with pay.
Follow and calculate all outside wage garnishment requests or judgments when required on an individual’s paycheck.
Communicate payroll and tax updates to employees and management via newsletter or email on an as-needed basis.
Work with Project Foreman and Managers in timely input and approval of weekly timesheets
Process off cycle payroll as required.
Maintain absolute confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
Maintain personnel files, payroll records, and payroll database.
Work with Union Halls on labor staffing, layoffs, and other pertinent matters.

What the successful Payroll/HR Specialist will have:

2 or more years of experience in a payroll department
Community College 2-year degree, minimum
Must be extremely dependable and consistently meet payroll processing deadlines and ensure payroll processing is of the utmost importance
Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards, attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness
Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
Ability to operate accounting and payroll software programs
Top skills in written communication
Ability to manage multiple projects

Preferred Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar field
Experience with Union payroll
Experience with Certified payroll

Compensation:

$29.00 to $38.50 per hour, DOE
Potential for additional Bonuses dependent on a mutable of factors (such as Company Profitability; Division Profitability; Personal Performance)
