Director of Communications (Full Time, Fully Remote)

We are seeking an experienced communicator, exceptional writer, and team player with an entrepreneurial mindset to develop and execute communication strategies that engage influence, and inspire internal and external audiences. We are seeking an individual with experience supporting matrix organizations, who excels at creating high-quality written content for multiple channels and possesses the strategic acumen to influence the behaviors of target audiences. The ideal candidate can pivot between strategy and tactics with ease, and has their finger on the pulse of emerging communications trends, with the ability to leverage technology to create fresh and innovative content.

NOTE: This position is approximately 60% internal communications focused and 40% external communications (mostly social media) focused.

Responsibilities

Communications strategy: Provide expert guidance to clients, develop and drive communications strategies and plans to cultivate engagement, drive new behaviors, and gain the trust and support of target audiences.

Content creation: Develop fresh ideas and content to highlight clients’ business priorities (with a particular focus on elevating the overall employee experience) for a variety of channels, including corporate email communications, blog posts, social media posts, video scripts, PowerPoint presentation copy, digital newsletters, campaign collateral, press releases, and quarterly/annual reports.

Social media strategy: Own the growth of our clients’ organic social channels. Develop strategy, plan content, provide channel management, perform daily monitoring and moderation, facilitate ad buys, and conduct analyses; manage editorial calendar with a clear, consistent process for getting content created, scheduled, and published.

Events and awareness campaigns: Identify engagement opportunities and share ideas to build awareness for client initiatives with internal corporate and external audiences; create SurveyMonkey surveys, analyze results, and develop summary communications.

Quality Control: Meticulously review content developed by clients and our internal team, ensuring adherence to brand style guidelines and consistency in messaging.

Client communications: Act as the main point of contact for several engagements, responding to client requests in a timely manner, leading client meetings and preparing agendas and meeting minutes.

Project management: Lead multiple projects simultaneously, tracking and managing milestones to ensure deliverables are met.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, psychology or related discipline
7+ years of corporate communications experience at a communications agency supporting matrix organization clients, with an emphasis on employee engagement, employee experience, and organizational effectiveness.
Strong advisory skills with experience counseling senior leadership, being a strategic business partner, and providing recommendations on internal and external communications.
Experience leading communications for an organization in times of growth, integration, business transformation, etc.
Ability to synthesize large amounts of data and input from a variety of stakeholders to select, influence, and execute the best solutions.
Natural storyteller with excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to convey sophisticated issues in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
Experience developing and managing corporate content strategy across multiple channels.
Strong project management skills and experience with the ability to multi-task across multiple concurrent projects.
Exceptional proofreading skills with detailed knowledge of AP style.
Team player with flexibility to changing deadlines and priorities.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
Proficient in online newsletter production platforms (e.g., Campaign Monitor, Poppulo) and associated analytics.

Preferred Qualifications

· Ability to leverage evolving technology to create fresh and innovative content.

· Ability to manage WordPress-based websites.

· Understanding of video production processes.

· Experience in SEO.

· Experience with developing fundraising collateral.
