About BON

Boxing Out Negativity (BON) is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization that promotes the empowerment of at-risk youth in a safe and supportive environment via physical activities and other anti-violence programs. BON’s groundbreaking programming seamlessly combines physical training with mentorship, motivational discussions, team building, and civic engagement to help youth realize the best within themselves. Founded in 2009 by coach Derek Brown, our current programs include Youth Boxing; School, Jail, and Street Outreach; and Community Anti-Violence Events.

Position Overview: Grants and Impact Manager

The Grants and Impact Manager is responsible for managing grant administration, data collection/reporting, and identifying and applying for new grants. Grant administration duties will include managing overall grant efforts, optimizing the grant administration process, identifying, preparing, and reviewing grant proposals, managing grant databases and ensuring grant compliance. Data and impact management responsibilities include ensuring the effective collection and evaluation of outputs, outcomes and impacts related to BON’s organizational and programmatic goals. The Grants and Impact Manager will refine and implement data collection tools and processes; oversee staff data input; develop systems to better integrate impact assessment into organizational processes and decisions; convert qualitative and quantitative data into reports; and work with the Executive Director to reflect the results in BON’s proposals and collateral materials. Major domains of the work include program data coordination and quality control, program data evaluation, grant writing, and grant contract management. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Areas of Work:

Grants Administration (50%)

Lead grant proposal development and submission—preparing and organizing materials for proposals, and submitting and monitoring grant applications, including:
Researching new funding and development opportunities on a local, state, and federal level, as well as from private foundations.
Drafting proposals/LOIs, grant application narratives, and budgets and collaborate to finalize with the Executive Director.
Preparing grant applications to be submitted and maintaining a robust list of portals.
Maintaining master calendar of grants and prospects and all associated files and correspondence.
Maintaining a library of grant support documents including resumes, bios, IRS forms, Board/staff lists, etc.
Executing thank you letters and facilitating grant contracts/agreements.
Managing grant contracts and submit reports to funders:
Monitoring and maintaining funders and investors reporting schedules and requirements.
Assembling all necessary supporting materials and documents including budget reports, outcome measurements, success stories, etc.

Data and Impact Management (30%)

Manage BON’s data collection
Lead internal data collection strategies for documenting programmatic outputs, outcomes, and impact.
Enhance and manage BON’s data collection strategies and analysis methodology.
Develop, track, and report on BON’s performance metrics.
Design and modify program-specific data collection instruments.
Ensure and improve data quality
Oversee and improve program data quality.
Monthly data collection, troubleshooting, and adaptation for improved systems.
Enhance the system for capturing success stories and produce findings reports.
Implement and oversee BON’s data quality and evaluation feedback loop among staff.
Report internally and externally
Compile and report monthly and quarterly data for funders and government bodies.
Analyze and present data through narratives and visualizations for proposals and reports.
Research statistics, trends, and data for grant proposals and community advocacy.

Communicate Impact (20%)

Update the organization's website with compelling stories (qualitative) and key statistical data (quantitative) to effectively communicate our impact and achievements.
Develop, design, and disseminate a monthly newsletter that showcases our impact to stakeholders, including donors, partners, and the community.
Create engaging social media content that effectively communicates our impact and achievements across various platforms to engage stakeholders and raise awareness about our work.
Maintain and update a comprehensive BON Impact Pitch Deck that succinctly outlines the organization's mission, activities, and impact for potential funders and stakeholders.
Respond promptly to inquiries and requests for information from stakeholders, ensuring a high level of professionalism and accuracy in all communications.

Job Qualifications/Skills

Undergraduate degree is preferred.
Self-motivated; comfortable working independently.
Well-organized, detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills.
Strong written communication skills.
Ability to learn quickly and solve problems.
Experience managing government (federal, state, county, and city) grants preferred.
Experience in quantitative data design, collection, and analysis preferred.
Strong computer skills, including fluency with the internet, Google Suite, and Salesforce.

Salary & Benefits

This is a full-time (40 hours a week) exempt position that includes health and dental insurance, life, short-term and long-term disability insurance as well as paid time off.
The annual salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000. Final salary amount depends on relevant experience.

Location

Must be based in Chicago, IL or the surrounding area. BON primarily serves the community in North Lawndale. This is a hybrid, mostly remote, role with a flexible schedule.
