Summary:

The Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for developing, executing, and evaluating marketing & communication strategies as well as support involving communication and marketing initiatives. They are responsible for integrating the College community into a cohesive brand through media and technologies and engage in and support outreach efforts through media relations, public information, public affairs, social media, and publications. They manage institutional social media accounts to support enrollment, constituent engagement, and reputation management goals as well as produces or oversee production of relevant content for both internal and external release. They write and edit brochures and articles for publication and promote and publicize institutional activities and programs.

The Director of Marketing & Communications is a highly collaborative position that supports all departments.

This position reports to the President of the College.
This position is Exempt.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies that include written content, public speaking, media outreach and social media content creation.
Develop regular written material including newsletters, press releases, stories of interest.
Manage the WordPress function of the College’s website, the blog functionality, and the newsletter archive. Update regularly.
Produce social media postings, respond to inquiries, monitor comments (FB, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).
Facilitate marketing and communication support requests from departments on campus including, ad design work, art design work, informational pamphlets, viewbooks, photos and story feature events.
Review and approve all departmental and student organization marketing outreach proposals to ensure appropriate branding guidelines are followed.
Identify and coordinate public speaking and other public outreach opportunities.
Provide communication support for executive leadership for major public events, including Commencement, Match Day, Graduation Reception, White Coat Ceremony
Coordinate with the videographer/photographer for internal outreach needs.
Develop graphic design content as required.
Manage messaging for the College in a timely manner.
Oversee data collection and subsequent production of the yearly outreach and engagement report.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Other skill important to this position:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including writing, editing, public speaking, basic graphic design skills and development/delivery of presentations.
Strong social media skills.
Experience with search engine optimization preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and related software
Strong team player who works well with a wide variety of people
Comfortable working independently to support the executive level in high-profile projects and events.
Commitment to the institution’s mission and vision

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
Experience: Five to seven years of related experience
Portfolio of relevant previous projects required.
Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
