POSITION: Elementary Secretary (multiple)

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

STARTING DATE: August 5, 2024

This job will be for approximately 10.5 months/205 days a year. The secretary will be expected to work 2 weeks after students leave and 3 weeks before they return. This job is for 8 hours a day.

Necessary Qualifications

A high school diploma with additional business school or college desired.
Current or recent elementary school or office experience required.
Possess current First Aid and CPR cards or willingness to obtain them in a timely manner.
Evidence of demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and the general public.
Evidence of demonstrated ability to: work under pressure with interruptions and still maintain composure and appropriate office routine; compose standard memos, letters and reports independently or with minimum instruction; accept responsibility with minimum direct supervision.
Demonstrated computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher, Google Docs and Google Sheets, as well as know or be willing to learn Power School Student Information System.
Demonstrate computer experience with RESA SMART or some other purchase order/requisition program.
Demonstrated accuracy, speed and proficiency in office methods and use of office equipment.
Recommendations that confirm efficiency, confidentiality, dependability, flexibility, organizational ability and excellent interpersonal skills. Evidence of demonstrated ability to work independently and possess initiative.
Evidence of proficiency in verbal and written skills, including excellent working knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and English usage.
Evidence of excellent attendance, punctuality and dependability; evidence of ability to be self-disciplined and a self-starter; professional attitude and appearance.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job

Responsibilities

Receive visitors and answer telephone calls in a cordial, effective and courteous manner.
Create and maintain an "inviting" office climate for students, staff and parents.
Establish and maintain office routine: student and office records; electronic accounting skills; prepare newsletter, requisitions, purchase orders and work orders; register students; maintain files; use office machines with proficiency, speed and accuracy; process mail; handle school correspondence.
Arrange subs for support staff and classroom aides when needed.
Attend to minor first aide needs when nurse is not in the building.
Interpret and follow written and verbal directions independently.
Maintain confidentiality and practice discretion in all settings.

WAGE RANGE: Hourly Wage and Benefits are commensurate with experience.
