Position: Communications and Marketing Coordinator

Reports To: Superintendent

Employment Status: Administrator - 225 days

Salary: Per Negotiated Agreement

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred
3 or more years experience in marketing or communications preferred
Skills with print and digital communications
Experience with event planning
Technical skills to keep the webpage and social media current and relevant
Valid driver’s license in the State of Ohio
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

General Duties: Provide leadership and direction for all district wide internal and external communications consistent with a well-defined strategy that supports and aligns with the district’s strategic mission, vision, and values. Plan, develop and manage strategies for proactive public relations that inform, connect and engage students, staff, parents, and community members. Prepare and publish school district publications. Develop and provide accurate and timely information to the Board of Education, the staff, and the general public through both written and oral communication.

Specific Performance Duties

Serve as information liaison between the District and the community.
Serves as contact for internal and external communications
Develop and implement a comprehensive district communication.
Develop innovative communication strategies to promote the goals of the district to internal and external constituents.
Develop and produce innovative written and electronic communications for all audiences to include brochures, email, newsletters, video and web content.
Complete a monthly parent newsletter for the district with updated information, celebrations, and relevant news for publication.
Coordinate, manage and update the district webpage in conjunction with the technology personnel.
Assist in the development of presentations to community groups and organizations.
Cooperate with building principals to schedule weekly visits to each school and provide support in the building level communications and promotions.
Attend events of the district in order to document, communicate and market the highlights of our students and buildings.
Develop a branding plan for the district/buildings and appropriate branding guidelines for use by staff and community partners.
Respond to records request, media request for information by researching, verifying and editing all releases of information.
Plan and promote events to recognize staff accomplishments, eg. awards, honors, retirements and milestones.
Work with the treasurer and superintendent to develop and maintain the communication and marketing budget.
Maintain respect at all times for confidential information.
Develop positive relationships with members of the media and serve as the communications liaison in the event of an emergency as deemed necessary by the Superintendent.
Serve as the spokesperson for the district when directed to by the Superintendent.
Develop and implement a marketing plan directed at making creative uses of our facilities in ways that are self-sufficient and serve the citizens’ interest.
Develop and implement a marketing plan promoting our schools with the goal of making the Chillicothe City Schools the school of choice for all our residents.
Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent of schools or designee.

Additional Working Conditions

Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
Excellent observation and communication skills
May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
Assisting students with behavioral/management needs
Frequent evening and/or weekend work

provisions of the Board of Education’s policy on evaluation of support services

personnel.
