City Cast is hiring a part-time production assistant to join the team of our popular and growing daily news show for DC. Our ideal candidate is a capable audio producer who highly organized, attentive to detail, and passionate about all things DC.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct research and pre-interviews, and potentially write scripts--with an eye towards creating smart, fun, digestible, accessible shows that help listeners feel more connected to your city.
Do an initial audio edit of podcast episodes in Adobe Audition.
Possibly: edit some episodes in Descript.
Write short news and events segments to our companion newsletter, Hey DC.
Track audio with our show hosts, and upload the audio to Megaphone.
Listen to early show drafts for edits and quality check.
Contribute story ideas and book guests, as time allows.
Contribute to an inclusive, kind, supportive work environment.

Schedule:

While we have some flexibility, ideally we are seeking a candidate to work 5 days/week - two full days on Wednesday and Thursday, and 2-3 hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.

Qualifications:

Strong audio editing skills, with the ability to quickly identify the most compelling elements of a recorded interview, edit those elements into a clear narrative, and mix audio.
A proven record of accuracy and capable editorial decision-making.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to conduct research quickly and formulate it into clear and effective prep documents.
A passion for DC and for local journalism.
A longing to make audio content that sounds delightful and fresh.

Required:

Employee must reside in Washington D.C.
Must be able to work at-least 20 hours per week

The production assistant will report to the Lead Producer of City Cast DC. This position is part-time, with excellentbenefits. The annual salary range is $21.63 - $26.44, depending on experience. You must be local, though work will be primarily remote.
