Governed by a 28-member board of directors, ELFA operates with an annual budget of $14million and a staff of 20+ professionals, including senior leaders in finance, governance, government relations, membership, communications, and research.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Marketing is responsible for driving the value of ELFA membership and achieving organizational growth. You will plan and execute communications for ELFA's events, products, and services, directly supporting objectives for member engagement, recruitment, and event revenue. This involves maintaining a strong, consistent ELFA brand across all platforms and establishing efficient operational processes to ensure our marketing efforts are innovative and measurable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Communications Planning

Develop and execute marketing and communications plans for ELFA events, publications, products, and campaigns.
Supports organizational growth objectives such as member engagement, membership recruitment, and event/program revenue growth.
Brings innovative ideas on promotional and marketing strategies to drive organizational ROI; stay up to date on marketing trends and resources.
Develop and build relationships with marketing leads at ELFA member organizations, supports management of ELFA’s communications and marketing membership workgroup.
Represent ELFA at key conferences and industry events.

Brand Governance and Consistency

Enhance and maintain ELFA’s brand identity, ensuring consistency in voice and visual standards across all platforms and materials.
Execute the branding and promotional materials for all ELFA events, programs, publications, and products, in partnership with ELFA’s Creative Director.
Manages and supports ELFA’s awards program.

Content and Channel Management

Create and oversee content calendars across all ELFA communications channels (website, podcast, social media, magazine, etc.), collaborating with ELFA’s internal program teams, external stakeholders, and ELFA leadership.
Oversee the entire email marketing program, including governance, content calendars, production, list integrity, and performance tracking. Manages the production of ELFA’s newsletters, including ELFA’s weekly newsletter.
Collaborates with the Director of Web Design to ensure high-quality content that drives increased web traffic, improves SEO, and generates leads from external sources.
Creates and writes promotional materials, marketing messaging, and other language needed for communications efforts.
Contribute to and support the creation and oversight of ELFA’s annual reports, presentations, and other membership and board materials.

Operations, Budget, and Reporting

Establish and oversee team operational needs, including defining SOPs, governance, project management systems, and managing budgets.
Collect data from across platforms and ELFA teams to produce monthly, yearly, and quarterly metrics reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in marketing and communications, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or director-level capacity, preferably within a non-profit association or B2B environment.
Strong working knowledge of digital marketing best practices, including SEO, web traffic analysis, lead generation, and content marketing across a variety of channels (website, social media, podcast, etc.).
Familiarity with marketing automation and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar association management software).
Must possess outstanding abilities in both written and verbal communication. This includes the capacity to produce clear, persuasive promotional materials, craft high-level marketing strategies, and effectively represent ELFA to both internal and external audiences.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience and skill set, with an anticipated base salary range of $120,000-$140,000. Eligibility for incentive-based compensation is also included.
Hybrid work environment: in-office 2 days per week (Tuesdays and one additional day of choice).
