Description: The Marketing Communications Coordinator will be responsible for promoting and marketing Gwinnett County and its cities as a tourism and meeting destination and will assist in executing the Explore Gwinnett marketing plan. In unison with the marketing team this position will serve as a coordinator on marketing and tourism programs, projects and marketing efforts, as well as facilitating active partnerships with hotels, restaurants, attractions, cities and other destination partners.

Essential Functions:

• Work closely with the Sr. Director of Marketing and Marketing Communications Manager to develop strategies and programs to promote tourism and destination development

• Assist with general daily tourism operations of Explore Gwinnett; coordinate plans and marketing activities to enhance Gwinnett’s image as a destination for conventions, meetings, business and leisure travel, tournaments, tours and events

• Assist with promotions and community-wide events (examples: Gwinnett Burger Week, Seoul of the South Tour, Gwinnett Beer Week, etc.)

• Provide occasional assistance at local festivals which may sometimes fall on evenings and/or weekends

• Assist with production and writing of collateral promoting Gwinnett County

• Regular communications to hotels via weekly e-newsletter

• Social media best practices and experience

• Assist in bringing creative ideas from concept to fruition

• Work to elevate and maximize existing software including Crowdriff, Cision, Pickit, etc.

Position Qualifications:

• Preferred Education- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Communications, New Media, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing.

• Experience- Minimum of 2 years in Marketing Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field or a minimum 2 years related work experience in exchange for each year of advanced schooling.

• Special Skills- Spelling, grammar, punctuation and AP Style. PC and Internet knowledge & understanding, experience in writing for web and social media is necessary. Ability to communicate concisely – both verbally and in writing – is required.

• Required- Thorough understanding of MS Office Suite (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), CMS website experience, demonstrated experience in working with vendors throughout project completion

• Desirable- Email marketing, Cision experience, knowledge of Canva, social media savvy, graphic design. Knowledge of hospitality industry, DMO or events marketing.

• Salary range: $50,000 (based upon experience)
