Position Purpose

The Major Gifts Senior Manager will cultivate, solicit and steward current and planned major gifts (defined as gifts of $5,000 or more). This position will oversee a portfolio of high-profile supporters while helping team members to build strategies and initiatives that strengthen the donor pipeline. This position will require exceptional communications and marketing skills, a willingness to engage community partners across the Charlotte Region, and a passion for Habitat’s work. This position will work with team members to support other departmental responsibilities connected to; donor & program data maintenance, prospect research, event coordination, and any other development-related duties as assigned by the Director of Development.

Essential Functions

Build the donor pipeline; work to qualify, cultivate, and solicit prospective major gift donors
Will maintain a portfolio where 50% of accounts are in the solicitation phase
Executes effective moves-management strategies to increase individual giving by at least 10% in year one
Identifies & tracks donor behavior to establish patterns of giving and generate accurate forecast and action plans
Works closely with Marketing & Communication team to manage tone, content, and cadence for targeted donor segments and special mailings
Attends and supports donor events – as delegated by the Director of Development
Supports the Director of Development to create and execute donor communications that celebrate select milestones -- lifetime giving, years of engagement, anniversaries, etc.
Assists the Director of Development in establishing and managing annual and long-range development goals for targeted donor segments.
Builds the Generations Society through a bi-annual newsletter, 1:1 donor visit, and an annual event on Planned Giving.
Supports team members when needed and performs other development-related duties as assigned by the Director of Development

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills Required:

5 years of experience with professional annual fund, donor relation management, and major gift programs
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to ask for money and solicit donors directly
Ability to travel or drive long distances for Development related meetings and tasks
Experience in event and project management in a professional environment
Ability to work both on broad-based strategy and on specific detail
Strong project management skills to facilitate the creation of strategies and action plans
Enthusiasm for teamwork, accuracy, initiative, and critical thinking
Commitment to constant improvement
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in an office environment as needed which requires ability to speak, hear, with the visual and manual dexterity to manage papers, reports, and typing
Must embody the capacity to maintain the following for several hours at a time: use of personal computer or similar technology, phone, sitting as required

Work Environment:

Requires working in the Charlotte home office; some Charlotte Region travel as needed with donor meetings and events. This position will need to be flexible to work some evenings and weekends - when needed and with proper notice - to support Development and affiliate-wide initiatives.

Estimated Time Commitment

40+/- hours/week. Monday-Friday schedule.
