We are looking for an individual that cares about manufacturing and is interested in learning more about the role data analysis plays in making business decisions at manufacturers. This individual is a self-starter who is excited to use data to influence improving manufacturing businesses through data analysis and will help us manage information, analyze the data and develop the message. HRI uses our vast amounts of data to help businesses make smarter decisions and deliver even better products to our customers and to the industry overall.

Your focus initially will primarily be collaborating with our team of other analyst consultants, HRI’s leadership team and our proprietary Harbour IQ database to analyze data that already exists within our database as well as new data collected via studies conducted by HRI’s Harbour IQ team. These studies are conducted via online surveys sent to manufacturing leaders to collect data on all areas of a business, from Human Resources and Financials all the way to Engineering, Operations or Sales. Additionally, these studies receive anywhere from 50 to 500 respondents to a given survey. The candidate will validate data collected, perform analytics and build impactful reports and dashboards using Excel, PowerPoint and B.I. tools integrated with our data sources.

Over time, you will learn more about the underlying data and the manufacturing processes that the data is associated with to communicate complex topics and draw insights from the data to create information that business owners and leaders will use to run their businesses. Ultimately, you will learn how to look at data, find the story within it, communicate that to manufacturers across North America and problem solve real business challenges.

The role may evolve into increasing participation in strategic projects, project team leadership and increasing client interaction. HRI leadership will work to leverage your strengths and develop a long-term career path that meets your interests and needs.

A typical career path would start in this role with most of your time spent in the data working with the Harbour IQ team to create reports. Initially HRI will occasionally bring you to clients to better understand the impact of the data you analyze, we will also provide both internal and external training on analytics and manufacturing processes. After one to two years entrenched in the data and information, if desired, this role can move into management of the data analytics OR can move into the consulting side of the business using data to help make process improvements within client operations and spend more time traveling/on site at clients. This path will be defined and will evolve throughout the first two years of employment with HRI.

Current Responsibilities Include

· Collecting, analyzing, validating, and synthesizing data from surveys (Qualtrics) and client data sources via software, phone calls and email interaction with clients

· Looking at different data sets to cross analyze the information to better understand what the story is in the information.

· Develop the message and content from the data for various deliverables, e.g., client deliverables, dashboards, industry presentations and market studies

· Communication with clients and internal team members on survey findings and custom analyses

· Perform data analytics utilizing our proprietary database and other internal data sources; ultimately share the information and support presentation to clients

· Project manage ad-hoc Harbour Results surveys throughout each year. This includes managing survey timing, communicating with the internal team as well as survey respondents, analyzing the data and working with the Director of Market Intelligence to determine the message

· Additionally, assist in managing the annual HRI Benchmarking Study (our largest study of the year)

· Assist in HRI’s growth of advanced analytics and analysis i.e., recommend new software, develop standards, and provide ideas for efficiency improvement and improved client deliverables.

· Creating output documents, utilizing Power B.I., Excel and PowerPoint formats

· Reading and conducting financial analyses for client companies and OEMs

· Reading and staying aware of happenings int eh manufacturing industry to assist in writing HRI’s weekly newsletter and building quarterly updates on the state of the manufacturing industry in PowerPoint decks

· Support consultants on assessments by updating performance scores for final deliverables and performing data analysis. If desired, present findings in conjunction with consultants.

· Support consultants on-site with clients through various projects including but not limited to labor reduction, root cause analysis for scrap reduction, updating cell layouts, etc.

· Attend relevant conferences to identify new market intel and technologies

Job Requirements

· Desire and interest to learn more about manufacturing processes and industries

· Desire and willingness to learn how to convey, unpack, and build complex messages around the manufacturing industry based on data and analysis conducted

· Excel, and PowerPoint skills and willingness to learn and improve current capabilities

· A self starter mentality and willingness to learn Microsoft Power B.I. and statistics skills to check, identify, report and correct data quality issues. HRI will work you to find the best external and internal training resources to train you. All training will be covered by HRI

· Solid communication skills and willingness to have constructive conversations with clients and internal team members

· Strong project management skills

· Ability to combine multiple information sources and identify insights

· Strong desire to take initiative; work independently and communicate as needed with team members and leadership

· Desire to develop personally and act on constructive feedback

· Strong time management and prioritization skills. Ability to be flexible with last minute changes and multitask on more than one project in each day

Nice to Have Skills but Not Needed

· Experience in maintaining database systems and other internal data sources located in the Azure and Office 365 environments like SharePoint and Access

· Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.), data cubes and working with SQL and SSRS

· SQL and statistics skills to check, identify, report and correct data quality issues

· Experience in a manufacturing facility or awareness of different types of manufacturing, whether it be via an internship, a full time position or an on going interest in how things are made
