About Hudson Link

Hudson Link (hudsonlink.org) empowers currently and formerly incarcerated men and women to realize their academic and economic potential by managing degree-granting college programs and providing essential re-entry support. Established in 1998, Hudson Link has helped over a thousand incarcerated people make a positive impact on their own lives, their families, and communities, resulting in lower rates of recidivism, incarceration, and poverty. Hudson Link also provides released students with ongoing alumni services, as well as transitional housing through the New Beginnings program.

Role Summary

The Communications Associate supports organizational operations in service of our mission to provide college education and reentry services for currently and formerly incarcerated New Yorkers. This position works with the Director of Strategic Initiatives to spread awareness of Hudson Link's brand and most important projects and initiatives

What You Will Do

The communications associate serves the following groups of stakeholders by performing the listed tasks.

Execute the organization's social media strategy through the curation and creation of both long termand rapid response content for social media accounts and Hudson Link website
Write and distribute regular e-blasts and e-newsletters to all donors, supporters, and alumni of Hudson Link
Help draft, edit, and pitch earned media opportunities such as op-eds and press releases
Direct and produce photo and video content for Hudson Link website and social media channels, attending Hudson Link events as necessary
Track trending and emerging news and current events to source content for social media
Act as editor and designer for the quarterly student newsletter “The Link”
Monitor and update the Hudson Link website as needed
Manage and update mailing list for e-communication
Support academic programs team, development, transitional services, and strategic initiatives departments with the creation of outreach materials for programs and events as necessary
Help to ensure consistent branding across Hudson Link external communications
Work closely with Development team to create materials for Hudson Link’s yearly Gala, graduations, and Beyond the Block events
Coordinate with graphic designers and photographers as needed

Who You Are

✓At least one year in marketing, communications, social media or related fields

✓Track record of successfully creating and implementing social media campaigns for marketing, outreach, and increased awareness of an organization, program or service, accross multiple platforms

✓Experience creating content for and leveraging media channels such as Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn

✓A good eye for graphic design and an ability to create images that are in line with Hudson Link's existing branding

✓Experience with basic video editing for intended for social media

✓Expectational organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to manage mulitple competing priorities, and ability to work under pressure

✓Ability to attend Hudson Link events, including occasional evenings and weekends

✓Proficiency with Word Press, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, Hootsuite, and Constant Contact or similar applications strongly preferred

✓Beliefs regarding corrections and rehabilitation congruent with the mission of Hudson Link

What You Can Expect

✓Starting salary of $55,000
