THE INLANDER, a family-owned urban weekly newspaper and media company in Spokane, Wash., is seeking a full-time graphic designer to join our production team.

The Inlander serves a thriving, growing region which is home to more than 600,000 people in the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene region. We work every day to make our community more vibrant and dynamic. We believe strongly in the power of print, and our advertisers and partners have relied on us to deliver powerful results through our print and digital platforms.

Over the past 30 years, the Inlander has grown to become the region’s best-read newspaper, in addition to producing targeted glossy city guides, two magazines and a digital suite that includes robust web and email content and advertising solutions. We also produce high-quality events, including Inlander Restaurant Week, which features three-course meals at more than 100 restaurants every year.

As an advertising production designer, daily tasks will include:

Creating print and digital advertisements for Inlander clients to run in our publications, on our website, and in our newsletter emails.
Assisting in the creation of marketing materials for Inlander publications, digital platforms and events.
Assisting with the creation and layout of Inlander print publications.

Supplemental responsibilities, as needed, will include:

Digital ad placement and monitoring.
Basic Wordpress website maintenance.
Editorial layout assistance.
Event staffing assistance.

What you bring to the table:

A successful Inlander Designer is flexible and creative. You’re open to cross-department collaboration, and have a solid understanding of graphic design fundamentals and principles. You’re able to follow brand guidelines for a variety of clients and produce work in many different styles quickly and efficiently.

You’re super proficient in the Adobe Suite of programs — with an emphasis in InDesign — and use them efficiently and effectively. You keep yourself informed on trends and techniques, and you maintain understanding of the Adobe software as it updates. You’re open to adopting new techniques and learning methods required for the Inlander workflow.

You’re a good communicator and a team player. You’re organized, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines. You’re able to follow instructions, have good attention to detail, and will do everything in your power to create error-free work.

You have at least a two-year degree in Graphic design or equivalent work experience in print design, with a solid portfolio. You’re willing to live in Spokane, WA and work in-person at Inlander Headquarters. This position is not remote.

Pay range is $18-$19 per hour (potentially higher) based on experience.
