Paid Multimedia Editorial Internship — Business Website

InnoLead is seeking a Multimedia Editorial Intern with strong skills in video editing; multimedia creation; research; interviewing; copywriting; and data visualization. Our goal is for this internship to help you build new skills, interview interesting people, and add to your portfolio of published multimedia work.

InnoLead is a fast-growing media and events company that reaches a global audience of innovation, R&D, emerging technology, and strategy executives. Our editorial focus is on how new things get designed, built, and launched inside large organizations. We’ve covered companies like Disney, Target, Google, Mastercard, Bloomberg, NASA, and Trek Bicycle. (We define our coverage area as large companies, not startups.) Our subscribers get access to a wealth of content and research — including research reports, webcasts, a podcast, videos, and online and in-person events. The company was founded in 2013 by a group of journalists and media entrepreneurs, and producing great content is at the core of what we do.

This will be a Spring/Summer 2023 internship, with the possibility of continuing for one or more additional semesters. Our ideal candidate would be able to take on some hours for paid training and onboarding time beginning in the March-April timeframe. We are not a 9-5, in-office company at the moment, but we would like to have our whole team on the same time zone — Eastern Time. We always prefer in-person interviews when possible and safe. (Ideal candidates are located within an easy drive, train, or subway ride to Boston or NYC this summer).

Tasks may include:

Researching and pitching stories about innovation in large companies
Writing stories for web publication and social media promotion
Making audio and video selects from interviews or webinars
Video editing short-form clips for site
Creating a promotional newsletter once a week in Hubspot
Sourcing images for articles and media posted to site
Collaborating with Marketing Intern on multimedia projects
Design and layout for PDF and print publications
Booking interviewees for articles and multimedia interviews
Attending in-person events to meet sources and develop story ideas
Assisting with podcast and video production (writing scripts, editing, organization.)

Requirements/Criteria:

Has completed at least two years of study in journalism, public relations, communications, media, video production, or related field
Enrolled in undergraduate or graduate study program
Strong knowledge of video editing software, whether Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or otherwise
A base-level understanding of how business works, and the companies that are leading the way in business trends
An eagerness to learn and become a valuable part of a team
Experience interviewing for content — whether written, video, or audio
Experience with content management software (Hubspot, Wordpress, Webflow, etc.) a plus
Experience mastering audio a plus

We envision this as a 15-32 hour a week internship with periodic in-person collaboration throughout the summer. Ideal candidates will be interested in business journalism — covering industries of all kinds, from retail and fashion to financial services and sustainability — presenting information in new ways, and honing a wide range of skills that will be useful in a 21st century media organization. Internship pays $17/hr.

We have offered full-time jobs to several of our past interns, and others have gone on to full-time jobs at Apple, the Wall Street Journal, NBCUniversal, HubSpot and large PR firms.
