POSITION PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Employee Relations, Culture and Organizational Development, the Director of Culture serves as a collaborative leader driving IOA values of authenticity, accountability, integrity, collaboration, compassion, and innovation. This is done in partnership with the DEIB, Learning and Development, Marketing and Communications Teams, and key functional leads.

As a key leader in the organization, you will proactively foster a culture of employee engagement, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) to drive positive outcomes for our organization. You will lead our efforts to create a workplace environment where employees feel valued, supported, heard, and empowered to do their best work.

The ideal candidate will be a confident leader with demonstrated experience collecting and synthesizing input from stakeholders, identifying opportunities for improvement, proposing creative and pragmatic solutions, and thoughtfully designing process rollouts through a change management lens.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Culture will:

Serve as a leader in driving IOA’s values and strengthening a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, mindfulness, and well-being throughout the IOA workplace.
Take a systemic view of culture transformation to ensure cultural change is embedded organizationally, including operating models, organizational design, decision-making frameworks, strategic planning, staff allocations, and communication frameworks.
Develop, track, and assess annual People, Values, and Culture goals and plans aligned with the strategic planning process and IOA’s commitment to creating a culture of belonging and inclusivity.
Actively round on employees and leadership to check on emotional, physical, and social wellness, attend select staff meetings, and offer private support and counsel throughout the organization.
Oversee, implement and lead IOA’s New Hire Orientation(s) and IOA101 Programs.
Make recommendations and referrals as needed. Use discretion and sound judgment.
Drive the strategic direction for all culture and wellness initiatives.
Work collaboratively with the Senior Director of Employee Relations, Culture and Organizational Development, other HR team members, and department stakeholders in supporting individual employees, teams, and departments with employee relations issues, as appropriate.
Consider that the program is actively inclusive of all spiritual, religious, and other beliefs and actively inclusive of all ethnicities, backgrounds, cultures, statuses, and genders, promoting and supporting a culture-forward stance.
Oversee the production of the People Team newsletter, which includes creating a monthly culture and wellness message.
Drive employee engagement and fulfillment by using the content and cadence of the HR Calendar, EAP, cultural celebrations, departmental events, and external events to co-create and drive programs that enrich employees' lives.
Remain fluent in the HR and EAP programs IOA offers, speaking to their value and helping staff enlist.
Provide staff counsel, guidance, support, resources, activities, and education regarding all aspects of mindfulness and wellbeing as needed.
Educate interdisciplinary teams on the needs of older adults within our overall services.
Assume a co-leadership role for building and fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, anti-racism, anti-discrimination, and accessibility efforts internally for staff and their clients and externally for our community partners.
Co-lead and coordinate culturally sensitive and trauma-informed wellness activities, internal resource groups, and wellness seminars to empower and strengthen our workforce.
Review data to understand areas of need and effectiveness of employee engagement improvement strategies; collaborate with management, departments, and teams to develop action plans to address their specific needs.
Drives strategy for clinical and non-clinical training opportunities that promote our workforce's professional development and skillsets.
Fosters internal partnerships across departments, modeling a transparent and inclusive communication culture.
Attend conferences and professional development trainings.
All other reasonably related duties as assigned.

Education and Qualification (Preferred or Required):

Bachelor’s Degree in related field. M.A./M.S. in psychological fields is preferred.
Experience providing psychological services (including individual and group support).
Understanding of the unique needs of the elderly, people with disabilities, and/or underserved adults’ health
Highly skilled communicator; exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Highly skilled at project management; proven success working in a fast-paced environment and delivering against multiple work streams.
Fluent in change management strategies and best practices; proven successful in implementing organizational change.
Data-driven and results-oriented; proven ability to manage data/metrics and make data-informed decisions.
The successful candidate must also be experienced in employment law, compliance, and labor relations.
Experience planning and facilitating interactive meetings and/or events, including using in-person and virtual meeting platforms.
Bilingual English/Cantonese or English/Spanish a plus.
Deep and active expertise in unconscious bias and modeling and promoting active inclusion of all cultures, statuses, and backgrounds.
Ability to identify and reach underrepresented staff, bring forward their voices, and meet their needs through various IOA culture, DEIB, and wellness initiatives.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, volunteers, clients, and external partners, both verbally and in writing
Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes
Demonstrate cultural competence working in a culturally diverse environment.
Personal and professional understanding of intersectionality, anti-racism, inclusion, and power dynamics and how this play out across teams and organizations.
Deep understanding of HR practices and approaches with knowledge of HR compliance laws.
Highly collaborative and relational: values team cohesion and positivity
5+ years of experience in program or project management
Experience using various sources of people metrics to diagnose opportunity areas and measure results.
Experience owning program strategy-to-end delivery and communicating results to senior leadership.
Prior work and experience in leadership roles in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion desired

Compensation and Benefits:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The IOA provides excellent health benefits, a 403b retirement plan, vacation, sick, flexible spending, and dependent care accounts, a hybrid three-day work schedule on-site, and paid holidays.

Compensation:

Range: $ 118,293.00 - 140,000.00/annual

This amount is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee, which is always dependent on actual experience, education and other factors.

This range does not include any additional equity, benefits, or other non-monetary compensation which may be included.
