Dual Enrollment Coordinator — Competencies And Qualifications

Lighthouse Community Public Schools is looking for a talented Dual Enrollment Coordinator to join our team. Our mission is to ensure that traditionally underserved students of color complete college, secure a career of their choice, and become lifelong changemakers. The role of the Dual Enrollment Coordinator is to facilitate a partnership with some of our local community colleges to implement community college classes at both of our high school campuses. These community college classes are a central feature of our academic program and help students earn college credits, explore career interests, and prepare for life after high school. The Dual Enrollment Coordinator is an integral member of our College and Career Success Team. Funding for this position is secure for the next two years through the Strong Workforce Grant Initiative.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

ESTABLISHING & MAINTAINING A DYNAMIC DUAL ENROLLMENT PROGRAM

Run LCPS’ dual enrollment program in accordance with our Strong Workforce Grant and in conjunction with our Director of College & Career Success.
Research best practices around dual enrollment and bring what fits to LCPS in order to build out an impactful and sustainable program.
Collaborate with community college Staff (Deans, Department Chairs, and Professors) to bring 3-4 dual enrollment classes per semester plus 1-2 per summer to LCPS; at least one dual enrollment class per semester/summer will directly support Lighthouse’s Business Academy.
Build a case-management system where each student has the appropriate check-ins and support to ensure success in dual credit classes
Providing regular reports around student progress in dual enrollment classes to the Director of College and Career Success, CEO, and Board of Directors.
Recruit students/families for the dual enrollment program.
Recruit, supervise and support Dual Enrollment tutors. Funds are available to hire 1-2 of these per semester.
Ensure that a course agreement is in place for each dual enrollment course, which sets students up for success, and that this course agreement is adhered to by all parties at all times.
Promote LCPS’ dual enrollment program to students, staff, families, and the wider community by developing collateral, video testimonials, and feature newsletter updates for internal and external audiences.
Assist students with the process of registering and enrolling in community college classes; send required enrollment information to the appropriate staff in the community college system.
Attend dual enrollment classes and work to actively support both community college professors and LCPS students in making each course offering mutually beneficial.
Meet weekly with dual enrollment professors to help ensure student success.
Lead study sessions for students in the dual enrollment program to promote conceptual understanding and strong habits of work.
Participate and attend meetings, workshops and conferences that support the development of our dual enrollment program at LCPS.
Coordinate the logistics of the dual enrollment program with school teachers and leaders.
Regularly review and reflect on student performance in the dual enrollment program and use this data to make programmatic improvements.

ENGAGING IN PROFESSIONAL COLLABORATION

Meet regularly with the College and Career Success Team including the Director of College and Career Success, the College/Career Advisor, Work-based Learning Coordinator, and Destination College Advisor Fellow to coordinate programming.
Assist with data collection, documentation, budgeting and reporting for Measure N, Strong Workforce, and other initiatives related to dual enrollment.

Minimum Qualifications

We would love to hear from you if your educational toolbox includes the following:

B.A. or B.S. required; Master’s Degree preferred
3+ years teaching or program administration experience at the high school and/or college level
Valid California Teaching Credential, preferred
A nuanced understanding of the differences between high school and college courses and how to help students navigate the transition between the two
Experience building programs from the ground up
Experience working in the Business, Design, and/or Manufacturing industries, a plus
Ability to interpret and use data for the purpose of improving student outcomes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Bilingual in Spanish preferred

SUPERVISION

This position will report to LCPS’ Director of College and Career Success

TIME COMMITMENT

This position is 1.0 FTE full-time salaried exempt and follows a 12-month (233 day) work year with significant student-free days for professional learning and collaboration with colleagues and interaction with families. Includes approximately 5 weeks of paid holidays/breaks during the school year in addition to accruing 10 days of PTO during the year for use during the summer.

Common Building Hours: 8:00-5:00 pm for administrators. Occasional weekend and evening hours are required as determined by supervisor.

Our Compensation Package

Range: $72K-95K. Commensurate with experience and licensure.
