Lightning Media Partners is looking for copywriters with a passion for local news to help out with an ongoing project for our client. Our team is currently responsible for curating and formatting 30+ daily newsletters for metro regions across America, 6 days a week (Sunday through Friday). Upon hiring, you may choose to work on as many or as few as your schedule allows. This is a perfect opportunity for people who are looking for evening/weekend work on the side of classes or a full-time/part-time job.

The Details:

Each newsletter takes roughly 20-30 minutes to complete. We have assigned a "point value" of 0.33 or 0.5 per newsletter based on the scope, and we can pay a starting rate of $16 to 20 per point (depending on experience).
Newsletter curation involves selecting/briefly summarizing the top 3 to 5 news stories in a community each day, plus a couple of local events and community posts. We provide a thorough list of resources and guidance to streamline this curation process, and the client's CMS auto-generates a bulk of each newsletter's content.
Although this is a daily project, you do not have to commit to daily work and there are no minimum expectations for your availability. You can sign up for newsletters as your schedule allows, up to two weeks in advance, by adding your name to a shared spreadsheet. We will send email reminders when a new block of sign-up slots becomes available and use this as the basis for invoicing/payment.
Daily deadlines are 7 p.m. Eastern time and work can begin as early as 10:00 a.m. Eastern time.

On Friday, Dec. 16, the Winter Break Spectacular will open for families and students in Hamilton County. There will be pictures with the Chattanooga Elf, holiday music, balloon animals, and much more. The film "Elf" will be screened at sunset. The event is free, and begins at 2:00 p.m. (Chattanooga Pulse)
Cincinnati is spending $3 million on hazardous repairs at the former Terrace Plaza Hotel. It is the first installment of taxpayer money into the historic downtown building. A developer plans on revitalizing the building. (WKRC TV Cincinnati)
An early morning fire broke out Wednesday at a popular west St. Louis hotel. The incident occurred at The Chesire on Clayton Road, where officials say a small kitchen fire caused minor damages.
