Salary Range: $60,000 Contribution toward health insurance premium and match up to 3% of salary to IRA. Paid time off upon completion of eligible time in position.

The Missouri Coalition for Children (MCC), a statewide membership and advocacy organization, is seeking a talented and driven individual to be Communications Associate for our Connected Communities-Thriving Families initiative. This position is a full-time salary position with benefits.. The Communications Associate must be creative and enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment that is mission and results driven.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Communications Associate is responsible for external and internal communications. The position supports MCC’s messaging, development of collateral materials, media/press releases and social media content as well as develop and manage the organization’s communications strategy and practices.

This position will execute communications work across multiple areas, including media, social media, digital projects including website content, branding and marketing. The ideal candidate will have significant experience writing and creating digital content (writing and graphic design) for social media and website use, as well as managing websites, including design and updates. The ideal candidate will also have some experience working with advocacy campaigns, interacting with members of the media, and working with community members to facilitate storytelling and other communications activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing a myriad of communication materials, including long reports, short fact sheets, social media graphics, and videos.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the development and implementation of a multi-faceted communications plan, which includes message development, web presence, external communications (social media, website, e-newsletter), and advocacy campaigns to educate, motivate, and influence target audiencesAssist in cultivating and maintaining relationships with journalists and publications that focus on child well-being issues.Develop and follow an annual editorial and communications calendar of events and social media schedule to ensure that events, news, and programmatic updates are optimally posted, including best time of day for the platform as indicated by researchProduce well branded presentations for various public presentation and speaking opportunities Create and implement a social media marketing strategy that includes all major social media platforms as appropriateGrow number of social media followers and engagement via creative, entertaining, compelling and informative postsDesign and manage all MCC Connected Communities-Thriving FamiliesNN4Y external materials in line with brandWork with program staff to capture content and share their work to our networkDraft all media communications, and coordinate media outreach tracking all garnered media coverageDevelop and update general brochures, key messages, fact sheets, & other collateral as neededCoordinate photography for/of events, activities, etc. for use in publications, media, etc. and ensure appropriate releases are signed and filed; maintain graphic and photo files Attend and actively participate in required educational programs and internal team meetingsCreate and produce invitations, thank you notes, signage for events, name tags, and annual appeal collateral

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

2-4 years of marketing, creative writing, website design, and other communications experienceExperience producing materials for digital communications, social media, graphic design, and websitesExperience as or working with journalists and members of the media is a plusIntermediate proficiency in Adobe Suite, Canva Photoshop, Google Suite, WordPress and some experience with CRM database managementExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsMeticulous attention to detailProficient in graphic design and website design, updates, and managementStrong written and verbal communication skills, strong ability to match brand tone, a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skillsStrong analytical skills and experience with e-newsletters, Google analytics, social media analytics and scheduling platformsAction-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to communications and organizational strategyAbility to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degreeExperience developing messaging reflective of community values, priorities and lived expertiseMulti-media production skills, including familiarity with video and sound editing ideal; familiarity and experience with design tools including Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Adobe InDesign, and familiarity with WordPress
