Job Purpose:

NCMS is seeking a Communications Designer to execute the holistic production and timely delivery of digital and print materials in support of the nation's leading technology consortium. This interdisciplinary role focuses on visual and strategic communications.

Primary Responsibilities:

In this role, you will assist in designing, coordinating, and producing high-impact collateral for web and print. Your design skills will be applied in a Creative Cloud/SharePoint hybrid environment, developing event programs and booklets, trade show materials, static and motion graphics, social media visuals, presentation design, and other on-demand design work supporting the organization. You will help the Communications team with process/asset management and automation of tasks. Duties will include but are not limited to layout design, illustration, infographics, asset production, photo editing, and branding efforts. The ideal candidate will manage design projects from conception to delivery and contribute to creative strategy, ensuring brand consistency throughout all projects.

A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work well in a team environment while managing multiple priorities and managing complex projects with various internal customers in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment: This position would be 3 days in-office at our Ann Arbor headquarters, 2 days remote work.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Layout and design whitepapers, technology briefs, newsletter, and annual magazine
Produce and update collateral, including PowerPoint presentations, graphics, and data visualizations.
Support the Communications team with developing and creating materials for internal and external customers.
Support the events team with event production, logistics support, and inventory management of existing materials.
Contribute to special projects as assigned.
Work with multiple print vendors to manage quotes and production timelines.
Production and coordination of collateral, trade show booth design, and event-marketing materials.
Compose and produce work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where speed, accuracy and attention to detail are required.
Participate in design critiques, giving and receiving actionable feedback
Creative assets library management.
Photo manipulation, editing, enhancement formatting for web and print.
Web/interface design and layout; creation of wireframes, user experience useability testing in SharePoint and WordPress.
Other design and production activities as identified and assigned.

Requirements:

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in communication design, illustration, animation, or user experience design. A strong portfolio with attention to graphic design for printed materials, social media, ads, email marketing, and web design is preferred.

Three to five years’ experience with design tools, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, is required. Knowledge of Acrobat, XD, Express, Premiere, and After Effects is preferred. An eye for detail, project and time management skills, creativity, and innovative thinking are needed.

This position will report to the Strategic Communications Project Manager.
