Neighborhood Health Center is GROWING, and we’re seeking a communications specialist to join our team of kind people. The communications specialist will have responsibilities that include serving as the primary content creator for Neighborhood’s social media channels, writing articles for our website, and building connections across departments. Neighborhood Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). FQHCs are required to comply with the governor's recent mandate requiring hospital and nursing home workers to get the COVID-19 vaccine. You will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination if an offer of employment is made. The vaccine mandate applies to all personnel employed or affiliated with a covered entity, including volunteers and students. Only a limited medical exemption remains for qualifying individuals.

Responsibilities

Work closely with other members of the communications department and key leaders on implementing Neighborhood’s strategic communication, branding and marketing plans.
Lead all aspects of Neighborhood’s social media content creation including discovering and developing story ideas and angles, interviewing, writing, editing and design.
Build connections with Neighborhood team members in other departments.
Plan and manage Neighborhood’s social media posts using a content calendar.
Take photos and produce videos for communications initiatives including website, social media, promotional materials, events and newsletter content.
Create and update graphics, signage, ads, and other collateral using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
Ensure the look and messaging for all materials adheres to brand guidelines.
Research and write articles for Neighborhood’s website and publications to showcase Neighborhood’s mission and vision, and providers.
Gather content for employee newsletter and other internal announcement emails; format and send using MailChimp.
Manage tasks related to events, including donor/volunteer appreciation events and other fundraising or engagement initiatives.
Collaborate with the director of communications on writing, editing and managing press releases, letters of support, all-staff emails and slides, and other writing-related or creative projects as needed.
Update content as needed on Neighborhood’s website.
Participate in communications committee meetings with ideas and potential solutions that are aligned with Neighborhood’s strategic communication objectives and organizational goals.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field preferred.
At least one year of experience in a related position.
Strong writing and interpersonal skills.
Experience working with graphic design programs, including InDesign and Photoshop.
Knowledge of basic video production and photography.
Exceptional attention to detail, timely, accurate and thorough in follow-up and follow-through.
Ability to manage shifting priorities and timelines.
Knowledge of social media marketing techniques and analytics.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language, with a second language of Spanish preferred.
