PDK International is seeking a hard-working design professional to assist in the production of the organization’s flagship magazine, the annual PDK Poll of Americans’ Attitudes toward the Public Schools, the Educators Rising conference program, and various one-sheeters, newsletters, presentation slides, and other collateral to support the organization’s programs, products, and services.

This is a part-time contract position that reports directly to the Creative Services Manager as part of the Publications team. Time required will vary, but job duties will typically require 5-10 hours per week.

PDK is a fully remote company and will accept candidates located anywhere in the U.S. If you are a junior or mid-career professional with 2-3 or more years of experience in design and publishing, have excellent organizational and time management skills, appreciate flexible hours, and enjoy working remote, this role is for you!

Primary Duties

Assist the Creative Services Manager in the design, layout, and production of Phi Delta Kappan magazine. Prepares social media images, presentation slides, website banners, and other graphics that align with our brand for marketing, programs, and other divisions.
Assist with the production of the weekly e-newsletter for Phi Delta Kappan using MailChimp
Select appropriate stock images, resize and adapt images, and help organize the archive and catalogue of all images
Make edits to images and text in existing documents or repurpose existing designs as needed.

Qualifications

2+ years of design and publishing experience
Proficiency/expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
Knowledge of graphic design and magazine publishing
Proven track record at meeting firm deadlines while managing multiple tasks
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a small team
Willingness to contribute ideas and accept others’ suggestions
Capacity to participate in a cordial, high-functioning, no-drama workplace
Experience with video editing and/or infographics a plus

Compensation

PDK International is prepared to offer $45-50/hour, negotiable depending on experience
