About Human Trafficking

Will serve as a member of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) & Human Trafficking team by assisting the section with human trafficking-related matters. Responsibilities include supporting the larger efforts of the South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force through the execution of its strategic response plan. Assist with initiatives as well as the expansion of programming to support victims of human trafficking, ensure public awareness and outreach efforts, and increase data collection to inform the development of future services for victims and survivors. Will request, receive, review, and process various documents for the State Task Force. Assist with professional training and prevention education. Support state task force subcommittees, regional task forces, and partner organizations in their efforts to prevent and respond to human trafficking in South Carolina. Will assist with other assigned duties and projects upon request.

Responsible for coordinating efforts within an assigned area of the South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force strategic response model. Includes regular communication with stakeholders within the area including, but not limited to, state agencies, direct service providers, schools, and members of the faith communities. Maintain a resource map for the assigned area reflective of the Task Force's multi-disciplinary response.
Assist leadership of the Task Force Subcommittees. Organize sector-specific training and events that align with the efforts of the assigned subcommittees. Work with other program staff to develop trainings that involve the intersection of multiple sectors.
Provide guidance and support to regional task forces within the assigned strategic response model area. Attend regional task force meetings, Domestic Violence Coordinating Councils, and Sexual Assault Response Team meetings. Contribute to the meetings as needed.
Maintain a schedule of meetings and presentations. Inform appropriate office personnel of scheduled presentations, meetings, and projects. Compile appropriate information and data regarding outreach activities, prevention education, and presentation requests.
Provide posters, brochures, and similar items to stakeholders. Share information regarding dates of meetings, trainings, and other events to appropriate staff to share with community stakeholders via social media, the website, and task force newsletter.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree with experience working in the anti-human trafficking field and/or Violence Against Women's Act (VAWA)-related programs.

Additional Requirements

Position may require overnight traveling.
Position may require the employee to work evenings and weekends.
Postion may be required to travel and transport files.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree preferred.
Must be attentive to detail and have excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, works well as a team member, be professional and discreet, and work independently under limited supervision.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Requires excellent organizational skills.
Previous experience in and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
Knowledge of Adobe preferred.
Must have the ability to learn new software.
