We are seeking a Program Assistant (Remote) for a 2-year contract with The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), located in Atlanta, GA. NIOSH is open to the support being provided remotely, so candidates can reside in any part of the United States.

The individual for this role will provide program assistant to advance NIOSH’s Center for Maritime Safety and Health Studies (CMSHS) work on occupational illnesses, injuries, and fatalities among workers in maritime industries. The professional will provide the following support:

Coordination of regular CMSHS and CMSHS-led meetings, including scheduling, producing agendas, coordinating with presenters, taking minutes, and distributing action items and follow-up documents.
Administrative support for the CMSHS program and other working groups and programs, as needed.
Maintain CMSHS webpages and other promotional materials.
Draft correspondence, summaries, and newsletter articles as needed.
Proofread, format, and provide technical assistance for documents including proposals, data collection forms, abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts.
Complete searches and literature reviews for occupational safety and health topics.
Maintain an EndNote library for maritime safety and health literature that is a resource for all researchers at NIOSH conducting or interested in maritime research.
Draft and edit PowerPoint presentations for the CMSHS as needed.
Coordinate health communication products and materials for public outreach.
Perform data abstraction, entry, coding and cleaning as needed to support CMSHS activities.
Assist with other program duties and WSD initiatives as needed.
Complete all required training, as supplied by the government, in a timely manner, including training for facilities, computer and electronic systems, security, privacy, records management, and any additional requirements.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in health or scientific field of study such epidemiology, health communications, or other public health related field of study.
2 years of professional experience supporting health / scientific programs.
Experienced in maintaining and updating files (both electronic and paper), databases, and records management systems.
Experienced in developing science-based products, including print and web publications, newsletters, abstracts, and manuscripts.
Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as being able to work with limited supervision.
Must be trainable and willing to learn new things.
Must be able to make two (2) trips to Spokane each year.
