Position Overview

Primary responsibility of the Donor Officer position is to solicit annual and mid-level gifts in support of Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada annual operating and capital projects. The Donor Officer will be responsible for establishing close working relationships with Philanthropy Department staff members, as well as prospects and donors, members of the board of directors, the philanthropy committee, senior leaders, and volunteers to meet annual fundraising goals. This position is expected to develop and execute a plan for major gifts that includes identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship processes that results in major gifts from individual donors. The Donor Officer will be responsible for reporting to donors the impact of their gifts through fund reports, scholarship programs and other written donor information through comprehensive and integrated stewardship reporting. The Donor Officer will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating these reports and programs while striving for continuous improvement.

Essential Job Functions:

1) Develop and implement cultivation strategies for assigned prospects and manage a portfolio of 100-125 prospects.

2) Identify new financial support opportunities from the community with the goal of expanding the number of viable qualified donors for VMSN.

3) Spearhead VMSN’s efforts to develop significant growth from donor gifts.

4) In consultation with the Philanthropy Department, and in alignment with the stewardship plan, provide personalized stewardship to assigned donors.

5) Assist in the planning of marketing activities, including preparation of brochures, posters, advertisements, email blasts, blog posts, news releases etc.

6) Prepare weekly reports of gifts and pledges for Philanthropy Department.

7) Manage and execute the Benevon Model for Sustainable Funding

8) Obtain and document patient and volunteer testimonials.

9) Responsible for coordinating outreach and fundraising events activities.

10) Prepare and run philanthropy reports.

11) Coordinate and participate in clinic site visits with donors and grant entities (foundations, corporations, and government) to include planning meetings, tours and program specific activity.

12) Responsible for staying current with philanthropy trends and assisting to execute within VMSN’s philanthropic model.

13) Aid in planning, preparation, and solicitation of all aspects of the annual events; to include registration, execution and post event follow up.

14) Meet regularly with the Philanthropy Director to review the status of prospect development.

15) Actively promote VMSN in the community and drive philanthropy efforts.

16) Work collaboratively to create an annual communication’s plan to include social media, tour packets, annual reports, newsletters, brochures, and other marketing materials/collateral.

17) Regularly analyze the effectiveness of marketing and communication activities.

18) Aid with creation and dissemination of quarterly newsletter and all donor communications.

19) Responsible for social media updates and maintenance of social media campaigns.

20) Maintain confidentiality of patients and VMSN records.

21) Attend in-service education programs as required.

22) Provide general administration support to the team such as completing purchase order forms, digital filing, obtaining quotes, scheduling meetings, taking meeting minutes, supporting event logistics, inputting call reports to donor records, and handling outgoing mail.

23) Perform other duties as directed.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from four–year College or university required.
CFRE Preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a professional fundraising role with a demonstrated ability to solicit and close gifts.
Education and experience in fundraising and grant writing.
Previous experience in healthcare fundraising preferred.
Experience with marketing and social media communications preferred.
High proficiency in Donor Perfect CRM and solid understanding of the principle of database management and development process workflow.
Excellent oral, written (proposals) and presentation skills.
Proficient in office computer technology – to include MS Office Suite, databases, etc.
Ability to think strategically to plan, solicit, close and steward gifts at various levels.
Ability to build strong and substantive relationships with prospects and donors.
Demonstrated ability to work with board members and volunteers to raise gifts at various levels.
Ability to work in a team environment to meet annual goals.
Self-motivated. Ability to multitask and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
