Role Description

The Education and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the important job of translating our patient stories into inspiring pieces for our community far and wide. The person in this role must have a love for wildlife, people, and the interactions between them. This is the perfect opportunity for an outgoing and knowledgeable individual interested in wildlife rehabilitation and environmental education.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage the care and training of non-releasable ambassador animals.

Manage or assist with social media, website content creation, monthly e-newsletter, and other digital outreach.

Schedule, coordinate, and perform in-person educational and fundraising programs.

Assist with creation of volunteer training resources. Provide in-person training for volunteers.

Provide over the phone education and conflict resolution through our wildlife hotline.

Identify areas of opportunity to expand our education programming.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Assist with wildlife rehabilitation animal care at the same level as a Wildlife Rehabilitation Assistant based on the seasonal needs of the wildlife center.

Act as supervisor for volunteers in absence of the permitted wildlife rehabilitator.

Assist in donor and volunteer stewardship.

Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Must have a personal vehicle to travel to off-site education programs, veterinary appointments, etc.

Must be willing to work in all conditions, including outdoors. Must be able to stand for your entire 4 to 8 hour shift.

Must be reliable and able to work independently. Must be able to complete tasks as directed and follow all safety procedures. Must be able to comply with state and federal laws regarding wildlife rehabilitation and education.

Must have a flexible schedule that allows for shifts covering animal care and education programs as needed, including weekends and holidays.

Must have a dedication to our mission of inspiring coexistence between humans and wildlife.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in wildlife conservation, biology, education, or a related field.

Experience working in a fast-paced environment.

Experience working with exotic animals in a professional setting.

Experience working with people of all ages in a professional educational setting.

Experience creating digital content and marketing materials.

Hours, Wage, and Benefits:

Position starts at $12.00-$15.00 per hour, wage based on experience.

Position is non-exempt and full-time 40 hours per week.

Continuing education costs reimbursement up to 75% annually until maximum reached.

Health insurance, retirement, and other benefits are not offered at this time.
