The World Hindu Council of America (VHPA - www.vhpadc.org) is a Sanatana Hindu Dharma cultural and heritage organization focused on the Hindu American identity and seva (service).

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated communications and digital media intern from a reputed university who would like to lead a brand building and community outreach efforts. This person will have a curious and open mind to understand Sanatana Hindu Dharma.

You will be responsible for developing content in a creative manner to publish on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. In addition, you will also be involved in developing presentations for the local county officials.

Under direct supervision, manage social media platforms to engage target audiences, grow followers, educate and inform about our educational and awareness programs motivating them to participate.

This will be mostly a remote position. You will be expected to travel to the local event place once a month. This may include attending social events, visiting local representatives, doing the presentations, etc.

Social Media

Create informative social media content using video and photography to support established messaging
Draft and schedule content (including static and video posts, blog content), across social channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and VHPA website
Monitor comments and draft responses
Compile reporting and analysis of social platforms
Assist with content calendar
Draft and schedule advertising content for social media channels
Recommend strategies to increase participation

E-newsletter/Blog/Email Marketing Assistance

Develop content schedule
Draft content

Miscellaneous

Flag articles/ads online and in print
Participate in brainstorming sessions
Assist with NGO meetings and events
Other tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Undergraduate students with major is Communications, Journalism, Digital Marketing or related field
Excellent writing and editing skills
Working knowledge, passion and curiosity for social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Blogging)
Interest in understanding social/digital/technology trends
Detail oriented with solid organizational skills
Work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
Positive attitude
Self-starter
Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Willingness to take on additional tasks outside of job description
Basic understanding of Sanatana Hindu Dharma and challenges is preferred, but not required.
You are expected to work around 30 hours per week.
