MOS Code: 4511 (Marine Corps), 58A (Army)
Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, or related field.
Licenses and Certificates: Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
General Purpose
Under general supervision, assist with implementation of marketing initiatives, programs and events.
Typical Duties
Assist with department's marketing publications: Involves: Draft prescribed memoranda, press releases and other correspondence regarding specified common marketing topics within deadlines. Proofread articles and distribute monthly employee newsletter and other departmental publications. Compose and submit stories for City's monthly Employee and Community newsletters, and the City Manager's Weekly Briefs. Keep track of new and existing route detours if applicable. Draft text and work with graphic artist on brochures, flyers and other audiovisual aids to support department programs. Consult with City Manager's office regarding department press releases for print, radio, television and social media. Support social media updates.
Develop, coordinate and implement marketing initiatives to promote assigned department. Involves: Coordinate marketing programs and special events. Attend city and community events to provide the public with information on department programs and events. Assist in preparing annual marketing plans.
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned. Assist with arrangements and administrative details for special projects, as assigned. Work with companies and agencies throughout the region on promotional discounts for employees, marketing blasts, and maintain databases and established goal tracking. Set up or arrange for set up of event depending on the size and scope of event. Purchase all necessary supplies for events and programs.
Assist department head, section managers and other staff in handling interviews with the media and specific customer complaints as needed. Prepare authorized responses to requests for information from City Council representatives, City officials and other committees, boards and local, state and federal agencies and officials.
