The Louisiana State Employees’ Retirement System (LASERS) is looking for a talented and motivated full-time Public Information Officer (PIO) 1/2/3 to join our team in Baton Rouge, LA.

Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation: Write and edit clear, engaging content for LASERS communication channels, including the website, social media, email newsletters, fact sheets, and other digital and print materials.
- Website & Intranet Management: Maintain and enhance web and intranet content using WordPress, implementing best practices in digital government communication and accessibility.Support all aspects of the agency’s ongoing Web Accessibility implementation project, ensuring all LASERS digital content meets current accessibility standards and compliance requirements.
- Email & Social Media Campaigns: Plan and implement educational campaigns through Constant Contact and Sprout Social on topics such as retirement planning, legislation, and upcoming events. Lead content planning and collaborate with staff to produce and distribute the monthly internal email newsletter to employees.
- Project Management: Use Asana to manage editorial calendars, track tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Events Coordination: Promote and assist with webinars and in-person events such as the HR Open Forum, Annual Retiree Workshop, and partner organization events involving LASERS.
- Social Media & Digital Presence: Grow and monitor our presence on Facebook and X (Twitter); analyze performance and report to management and the Board.
- Member Communication: Support real-time communication with members, assist with creating new and innovative educational materials, and assist with video storyboarding and review.
- Legislative Communications: Assist in creating timely updates on proposed retirement legislation during legislative sessions.
- Board Elections: Support communications and all processes related to the LASERS Board of Trustees elections.
- Media & Public Relations: Assist with media-related tasks, including drafting press releases, managing media inquiries, and monitoring press coverage.
- Editorial Oversight: Proofread various agency materials and ensure consistency with the LASERS brand standards.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to maintain accurate and timely communications.
- Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.

The ideal candidate:
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, or a related field — or has equivalent professional experience in writing, content creation, marketing, or media.
- Demonstrates strong writing, editing, and grammar skills, including experience with technical writing and content review with a strong attention to detail.
- Is skilled in digital communication tools like website content management, email marketing, and social media.
- Excels at translating complex information into clear, engaging content for a broad audience.
- Is a collaborative team player with strong interpersonal, project management, and organizational skills.
- Can deliver high-quality work under occasional tight deadlines.
