Grassroots Analytics ("GA") is a political tech company dedicated to breaking down barriers in fundraising for progressive campaigns and causes. To facilitate that work, GA maintains a detailed database on more than 20 million active, left-leaning American donors, including data on net worth, ideological preferences, political donation history, non-profit donation history, demographics, and contact information. Job Description
Working closely with the Art Director and Graphic Designer, this person will create compelling visual materials for both clients and our parent company while learning new skills and gaining professional experience.
The Graphic Design Intern will have the opportunity to work with every team at GA. That said, the role will have a particular emphasis on visual identity and branding. The right candidate will have an interest in marketing, and be curious to learn how visual identity shows up in real-world applications like newsletters, social media, websites, presentations, and one-pagers.
Responsibilities
- Parent Company Brand and Design
- Design and update visual assets for GA's marketing channels, including:
- Newsletter and email graphics
- Social media graphics
- Website content and web design edits, desktop and mobile
- Design and produce marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, and other print and digital collateral
- Create and enhance visual content for client presentations and reports
- Apply GA's visual identity consistently across all marketing materials
- Contribute to the evolution of brand templates, style guides, and workflows
- Client Design
- Create graphics for email, texting, direct mail, and web in collaboration with account teams
- Collaborate with product teams to devise graphic ideas and campaigns
- Quality Control
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Incorporate feedback and iterate on designs in a timely manner
- Provide constructive feedback and recommendations to enhance design quality and project success
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in graphic design principles (layout, typography, color, hierarchy)
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
- Experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Enthusiasm for progressive politics, nonprofits, and meaningful causes
- A strong desire to learn, coupled with the eagerness to make an immediate and impactful contribution
- Clear communication skills and openness to feedback
The compensation for this position is $20/hour, full- or part-time. Minimum 20-hour commitment, between 8 am and 5 pm. This is a full-time, in-office position based in our office in the Chinatown neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
