Position Summary:
The Marketing & Digital Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing and executing Newton at Home’s digital communications and marketing efforts. This role focuses on content creation, design, and distribution across email marketing platforms, social media channels, and print materials to ensure consistent messaging and a strong brand presence. This position plays an essential role in promoting programs, events, and organizational initiatives while strengthening communication with members, volunteers, and the broader community. The coordinator works closely with the executive director and staff to support clear, engaging, and visually cohesive communications. This role is currently execution-focused; however, there is potential for growth in scope and hours based on organizational needs and performance. Over time, responsibilities may expand to include broader marketing planning and campaign strategy development.
About the organization:
Newton at Home (NaH) is a non-profit, community-based, membership organization for adults aged 60+ in Newton, MA. Our mission is to help older Newton residents age-in-place with our supportive network of non-medical volunteer services and social programs. Through a broad range of member benefits provided by expert staff and over 100 volunteers, we strive to meet the social and practical needs of our members, enabling them to live independent, engaged lives in the homes and communities they love. Our staff members benefit from a collaborative work environment in a welcoming office, easily accessible to I-95 and the Mass Pike with on-site parking in West Newton.
Key Responsibilities
Email Marketing & Digital Communications
- Create, design, and distribute weekly and monthly MailChimp newsletters.
- Develop and send targeted or one-off MailChimp communications as requested by the Executive Director.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date email lists and audience segmentation.
- Ensure consistency in tone, branding, and messaging across all email communications.
- Monitor basic email engagement metrics (open rates, click-through rates) and share results with the Executive Director as requested.
Marketing Materials & Graphic Design
- Design flyers, brochures, handouts, and promotional materials for programs and events.
- Create visually engaging materials aligned with Newton at Home’s brand identity.
- Develop a monthly program calendar for distribution to members who do not use email.
- Support the development or revival of a quarterly newsletter, as determined in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Maintain organized templates and design files for ongoing organizational use.
Social Media Management
- Manage Newton at Home’s social media accounts (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram).
- Create, schedule, and publish regular posts highlighting programs, events, impact stories, and updates.
- Monitor engagement and respond to comments or messages in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and board members to gather content, photos, and stories for social media use.
- Track basic engagement metrics and identify opportunities to improve reach and visibility.
Branding & Strategic Growth Support
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and staff to ensure consistent branding across digital and print materials.
- Support marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns as assigned.
- Contribute ideas for strengthening outreach and increasing organizational visibility.
- Assist in the development of expanded marketing strategies as the organization grows.
Communication, Responsiveness & Time Tracking
- Monitor and respond to email and internal communications in a timely and professional manner during working hours.
- Accurately track hours worked and tasks completed using organizational tools (e.g., weekly logs, project trackers, or timesheets).
- Maintain clear documentation of deadlines, project timelines, and deliverables.
- Provide regular updates on progress and workload during bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with the Executive Director.
- Ensure remote work time is structured, productive, and aligned with organizational goals.
Qualifications & Skills
- College degree or a minimum of one to two years of successful experience in marketing, communications, graphic design, or a related field preferred.
- Experience using MailChimp (strongly preferred).
- Proficiency in Canva (or similar software) required; experience with additional design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
- Experience managing social media accounts for an organization or brand.
- Strong design sensibility and attention to visual detail.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Comfort using digital tools for communication, scheduling, and time tracking.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
